monster 4runner

This afternoon I got my coilover back from Sway-A-Way and installed it. I took the truck to 4 Wheel Parts On South Blvd. in Charlotte to get the shock Nitrogen charged. 4WP charged the repaired shock and then topped off the other three FOR NO CHARGE!

These guys are great. With customer service like that they can expect to have my business for a long time:driver:

They charged the one and topped off the others for free??

They saw all that money rolling in the parking lot and figured they would get their hands on some of it in the future! ;)

All 4 were free. Great guys!

Hey I kinda felt like we owed you one for turning you down on mounting the Stauns. I hope this means you will come out for a truckfest and crush some cars when George gets his monster done. :D

The Stauns still would not be on if not for you. Thanks again!

saw this at URE today, didnt look like things went so well. sheared off rear portal box maybe?

No. The portal box is fine. I sheared off the brake rotor mounting bolts. The brake rotor came off with the wheel and tire. Three of the bolts were black all the way through and two were half grey and half black. From that I believe that I broke three and cracked the other two at the SFWDA ride in Tracy City, TN. I drove the whole morning with my wheel held on by two half broken 18mm bolts.

We made a skid out of an old oak log and I drove out in three wheel drive...

I'm sure that there will be a lot of pictures posted. It looked like a lightening storm with all of the camera flashes going off....

I tried the RTI ramp at the 2011 Spring Offroad Festival in Columbia, SC. The bottom of the tire was 53" off of the ground before any other tire started to lift. This calculates out to a 1206 on a 20 degree ramp (obviously this ramp is closer to 45 degrees).

If I had removed the limit straps I could have gone a little further, but I didn't see the point going to the trouble...

I found one more picture on Facebook...

Finally got the rest of the performance mods done to the engine.

Denny T fuel pin
3200 RPM governor
Upgraded valve springs
Prince of Darkness injectors
Tuned injection pump

I had previously installed a Holset HX35 turbocharger. It made a difference, but now the seat of the pants meter is really happy. It rolls a lot more smoke when you get on it, but it clears out pretty fast. With the modifications it now has about 230 HP and 500 Lb.-Ft of torque. I am happy with the results.

I am not certain that I want to do this, but I have been thinking about selling the 4Runner before it gets all beat up on the trails. I may be interested in trading it for a muscle car, hot rod, Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G Wagon, or sportscar.
$35K or trade

One of my good buddies has a G-Wagon for sale if you're serious about it.
You know if you sell the 4runner you'll miss it and get another project.

Have you gone crazy?

I'm not sure that I will sell it, but if the right deal comes along I can be convinced to let it go. So far, I haven't had an offer that I couldn't refuse. (I have had some really interesting offers...)

Ice cold AC is nice...

I had new flex lines fabricated to allow the existing AC system to work with the repositioned compressor. I then installed a new compressor, filter/dryer, and a new expansion valve. After vacuuming the system down and charging it I had the pleasure of rewiring the system so that it works without the factory electronics.

Now, on to installing the sub woofers...

Good to hear its working for you. If you need anymore parts you know where I am at. I only see you two or three times a day lately.

I'm giving you the weekend off... I'm in Alabama for a family reunion!

I pulled the transfer case and sent it back to STaK for repair because it kept popping out of low range when under load. They replaced the gears and did some other stuff and sent it back at no charge. I reinstalled it last night and it seems to work well. I will have to take it over to Justin's to really test it out...

Well, it is still not right... Now the range shifter works but the rear axle will not shift into high gear. I guess that I'll be on the phone with STaK again Monday morning. I am about to lose my patience with this thing.

North West Fab shift linkage problems fixed. Now everything works as it should.
