Here is some of pics from putting a warn xj bumper on my old junk I cut 18" off the header panel and moved the head light buckets this has never been a show truck and pretty ain't in the plans
The muddy stuck I was in my back yard taking my friends 8 year old son for a ride he always gets me into trouble
and this one I nosed into a huge washout and the fuel pickup couldn't get any gas so it died and I had to be dragged out these are just a few shenanigans she's been involved. In
Love it. one question though? Is there a reason for I guess lack of a better term comp cutting the hood or is it just personal preference.either way its cool looking. doing good work bud.
I cut 18" of width out of the header panel to match the xj warn bumper the reason for pinching the nose is it exposes more of the tire making it easier climb ledges at an angle. Also using the hard line on kodak rock for example it is easier to get the skinnier nose of my truck through the v shaped cut I have seen it first hand as my buddy has almost the exact same truck except full width front and he has bumper clearance issues upon occasion. The reason for no fenders is it cools better, ease of maintenance, less weight,it looks wicked evil, finally im lazy its alot of work to graft all that body work just to get cool points for fancy fab work and neat looking body work I might smash into a tree tomorrow also im in the process of putting a modified 78 f150 grill in it because all my friends kept telling me it looks stupid without one so pics of that soon don't expect a beauty queen though
In this pic u can kinda see the width difference compared to the cab.I wheeled a Cherokee on 33s before I built this I and I rode in my buddies 78 f150 alot and didn't like the full width front but now I kinda regret cutting it up a little but I think I would still do it again hope this answers your question
This my rock rail project the truck is so tall I did every thing in uwharrie and never touched the cab to rocks but harlan trip this year ain't no joke the boy we wheel with go hard so body protection is a must an full exo is in the plans soon
Added a rub rail I made out of 1.5"square tubing the main rock rail is 2x2x.250 wall square tube then we slapped on some expanded metal for a self cleaning no slip step surface
Rig looks awesome man. Love to see a full size out on the trails.
One question, do the rear shocks actually work well at those angles? Obviously it works because you wheel it but I'm just curious because I've never seen shocks at an angle like that.
I used shocks off the rear of a super duty hoping that the heavy damping effect would correct some of the loss from running them at such an angle but it still is a little floaty not bad though I drive it on the street no problem I plan on resetting the angle after my doubler is installed
These are pics of the new grill we just put in its a cut width 78 f150 grill we pop riveted back together it isn't perfect but I believe it finishes the truck off well
Jeepbub thanks for the comments no problem if u or anyone else has any questions feel free to ask I know I didn't go into great tech depth I look forward to seeing y'all on the trail
