A few bottles I picked up in Louisville.
The daviess county is a french oak barrell finished from Lux row distillery. Most everything there was decent.
The pure Kentucky my wife bought from Willett. It was good, but pretty mellow.
I tried the Wildnerss trail by recommendation at a bar, and I was sold right away. Of course they dont distribute to NC.

Have any of you been on the Bourbon Trail in KY? Me and the Mrs are thinking about heading there next month and we plan to hit a few distilleries. I'd like to go to Buffalo Trace (not technically on the trail) and Weller. Makers Mark because I've always wanted to dip my own bottle and maybe a couple more. Any suggestions?

I just got back from Fort Knox. I didn't have too much time to hit the trail. But I made a stop in to Boundary Oak Distillery.

Not sure if they are on the burbon trail or not, but I really liked lux row. Also heaven hill because I have a soft spot for Elijah craig.

So, need some advice on a b-day present for a friend. Her birthday is next week and I've promised a bottle of Bourbon for a present. Got a few things at the house, the pic below are the duplicates of things I've tried and liked. Got others too like a couple Ryes, some $50 bottles that I haven't tried but I'm kinda holding those for a taste testing some day post all this COVID bs. Also got a couple things like a Weller Special Reserve, Whistle Pig 10, and even a Calumet 15 but I'm really holding those for [something, winning the lottery?]...
Of these, or any suggestions, what would you like to get as a gift? Yea, I know some Pappy but I ain't gettin' laid even with that so not on the list!

As a gift…Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, Old Forester…in that order. I’d also recommend not sleeping on Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey…in the $35-40 category.

@/dev/yj I agree with this. I like Isaac Bowman port finish too, but as a gift I would want something harder to find around here. I’m a fan of eagle rare. Give her the Buffalo. Keep the eagle.

If you think you'll get something I'd go Eagle Rare. If it's just a gesture then I'd say go with the Buffalo. It's a solid go to sipper for me most evenings.
