Bourbon

So the friend that gave me the B trace has is B day sat. They're going to
Bryson city 2morrow for a week. So we're celebrating now. I got this for him.

It is some damn good whiskey.

Picked up a bottle of makers mark 46 today. Good stuff or waste of money?
It's better than Jim beam...but personal preference really. It wasn't something I would buy twice

If you like ‘top shelf’ stuff at restaurants…it’s perfectly fine. In general though…I’d say Makers is what I serve when I don’t want to share my ‘good stuff’ or if I’m mixing and just want liquor content.

I dont hate maker's its more sweet than my preferred taste, but Ill darned sure drink it.
I put it and Knob Hill in the same tier.

Whats odd about Makers to me (and EW is the exact same) their base old cheap stuff is good. The more "premium" their product the worse it is.
Id much rather drink black label evan williams than any of their 15 rotating premium varieites

Ive said it here before, if Im drinking cheap my go to is Mckenna about as cheap as you will find and a surprisngly good flavor profile.

Depends if you paid retail (sub-$150) or secondary ($500ish). The ‘Van Winkle’ name will impress anyone…even bourbon snobs, primarily due to rarity. That said, I’ve never thought it’s worth the hype, and in my opinion…in the secondary market, the 10yr is relative swamp water compared to others at the same price point. Personally, the only van winkle name I’d ever seek out is the 20yr, and even then, it’s not worth secondary pricing. But if you can ever get your hands on Van Winkle at retail pricing, it’s definitely worth snagging to say you had it.

I’d probably agree. It’s not mine and I doubt that it’s the $600 bottle. Hell I hadn’t even tasted.😁

Unfortunately I can’t do bourbons and whiskeys anymore. I like them a liiiiiiiittle too much. 🙄

Whatever the case…even though it doesn’t tickle my fancy, you pour me an ounce, I’ll protect it with my life and nurse it all night. For no other reason than how infrequently you see it.

@hurt4x4 and I hit a few stores this evening.
Found my new favorite rye.

And a few more solid drinks.
The woodford was a single barrel selection by liberty ABC.
Everything by BARRELL that I have tried has been solid.

Local distributors got their Buffalo allotment last week.
My guy said he had 2 cases of Buffalo and wasn’t selling until Yesterday. I went in yesterday and they’d sold it all Saturday. 😡

But they had a single bottle of blantons left

That was a hole in the wall in York.

For those that aren’t aware…Blantons and Buffalo Trace drop every two months…and looks like last week was the week for NC/SC. So if your area doesn’t do a waitlist or lottery, start looking/asking in 6-7 weeks.
