Oh I'll keep the Poulan Pro and one rainy weekend I'll get bored enough to tear into it....but (to me) it's not worth dumping money into someone else stitching it up for +/-$150 to make it my "go to"

She'll be good enough for an occasional "side piece" though :smokin:
 
Picked up this bad boy to limb and top some trees in my yard before I cut them down............

It came w a charger and a lithium + battery. I used the battery on my 18v circular saw cutting some treated 2x4s and decking boards repairing my deck and it made quite a bit more power/speed than the standard lithium batteries I already have. Will post some pics and and opinions of it when I get to cuttin.
 
I finally bought one today. The guy at the store asked if I had started one of these before. I said I have a Stihl blower and weed eater with easy start. He said this is different. We went outside and he showed me. You pull the string ssslllloooowwwwwwww. He said if you pull it fast it will just slip and not start. I got home and thought, "there is no way you really pull it as slow as I remember." So I pulled it slow, like slow motion slow, started third pull!

Wind up recoil start? About to tear my father in laws out before he could warn me. Never used one like it......caught me just before the standard give er hell yank.
 
So I've had the same Stihl 046 since 2007ish, bought it used on Craigslist. Fast forward to Thanksgiving weekend this year, I went to use it and it basically wouldn't run. It would crank cold and idle, but once it started to get some heat, it would die. Didn't need it for a few weeks, forgot about it. Went to crank it last week, and remembered what it had been doing, but tried it anyway...same result. So I decided to pull the carb off and clean it out. As I was pulling it apart, I realized I had never pulled the carb because there were several things about the construction that surprised me. Ended up finding some sawdust or other small particulate matter on the inlet screen. Went through all of it, and everything else looked good, no ethanol residue or even typical gumming that I've seen in other carbs.

I believe it is a 1994 model, but definitely late 80's or early 90's. When I bought it in 2007, I put gas in it and ran it. At some point I replaced a sparkplug just because. About 5-6 years ago, it was running bad/hard to start/no power and I thought I was gonna have to clean the carb, but then I put fresh gas it in and it ran great again. Finally, after 10 years, I've had to clean the carb. Without a doubt, this has been the best saw I've ever owned.

She’s not much to look at and it’ll make your hands numb and you’ll be deaf but I love this saw. 1974 Model MAC 10-10. It was my grandpas that he bought new in Edmore Michigan and it cut wood constantly till he passed away and it came to me. I’ll use my husqvarna 450 but I still love to let this thing rip!!
 
Stilhls are ok, I have 2 huskys , a 240 that I use for climbing & trimming and a 345 for bigger jobs. I’ve had the 345 for about 20 years, both of them run like champs

Yeah yeah yeah. At one point I had 9 chainsaws. Then I became older and wiser, and sold 6 of em. Now I get by with a 046/460, MS361 for backup, and Husky 338XPT for in tree work. I used all the money I made off the other saws to buy bitcoin when it was at $18k, yet I'm still coming out ahead :flipoff2:
 
I should dig out my bumblebees... I forget how many I've got.. 9 runners at least, might be forgetting one or two. Plus a bunch of parts. Will sell some maybe all of them.. I have to take pics now I guess.

This ones for sale down by me. Doesn’t have a set price and lord knows what I’d do with it but I think it would be cool to have as a running piece of history cause I’m weird like that I guess.
 
Some kid had a brand new Stihl 180 for sale for $150 yesterday on book-of-faces

It wasn't' a Chinese ripoff....didn't' last long. I feel for whoever he stole it from
 
Thinking of adding a new saw soon. I may have come on a deal I don't want to pass up. Opinions on a Echo cs-490. I know the saw is nothing incredible, but i can pick it up for $225 NIB. It runs $350 at the store.
