Frankenstein Street Queen (a.k.a. SpeedBump)

Bam! Man that stock undercoating and oil buildup is not fun!!! And I have found a lot more cancer than I would like. May pick up some sheet. Pretty bad In some areas.

And here is an crank and rods!

If you separate the crank and rods you can squirt them with some fresh lube then Saran Wrap the hell out of them. It'll keep the moisture out for a while. Heavy duty trash bag works too and just duct tape the end closed. Ghetto but effective

Propane torch and a gasket scraper makes pretty short work of undercoating, just warm it up a little, don't set it ablaze.

thats an interesting idea! i went and bought a cheap knockoff brand oscillating chisel. When the blade was sharp it was like going through butter (i think it was the "included' wood chisel). Going to lowes to get a metal one, and then get back at it! Going to pick up some sheet stock too while at it. Just gunna cut away loose crap, treat with chassis saver, fold in some sheet, weld and coat over top. When i go to do the frame tie in for the cage, just going to create a plate that will bolt to the interior plate and simply sandwich everything together.

Got the SpeedBump painted with por15 then sprayed Herculiner on the underbody. A nice thick coat. Also coated super heavy in the cancer are. Decided not to repair. Just gunna sandwich with 1/4 plate against the cage floor plates when I do the frame tie in.

How much do you estimate you used spraying it? I've only painted it on before, got it on my hootus, but at any rate... More ended up on the ground than in the Jeep.

Almost one quart of por15. One quart of herculiner. I would have been happier with a second quart of herculiner... buttt whatever.

Got the shock tabs welded on. Got that rear crossmember capped in those mud trap areas. Then bolted up the tcase. With the new way the trans crossmember is with the bracket I was able to have 2 inches of clearance compared to stock and the tcase at its clocked position should clear 100 percent. According to my measurements. Haha. Went ahead and bolted it up because I remember how much of a pain it was working with the mount bolts on these Jeep Powertrains.

Welp. It happened. This build has cured my OCD. Time to finish this shit, sell it, buy a truck and build a trail only rig that is rust on wheels.

Thought has crossed my mind a few times as well.. LOL When I look at the investment and what I could gain... But F$*% it i'm not a banker.. I just want a Jeep that's badass lol.

Got the body bolted down!! Woot! Got the firewall slathered with some Chassis Saver and the fenders too!!! So close!

Edit: got the underbody notched too for the tcase!

Sorry if I'm asking a ? that's already been covered maybe, I follow the thread and can't remember.. I'm a bit inebriated at the moment :) .. But anyways.. I noticed the stock truck style oil pan. Do you think that will be an issue?

Youre good man! No i dont because I plan on building a custom skid plate that will attach to the belly skid and have arms welded to the frame to secure the forward portion of it. As far as clearance goes. So very much room.

whats your poison this night?

Here is the notch I had to do. my notching skills are a bit off. lol.

Just wanted to touch more on it. Such an awesome milestone. For me anyways. Lol. So yes body is fully bolted down. Only one captured nut was good out of the 11. Haha. I seriously played the rear so I had to use extended bolts. Old 258 head bolts were perfect for this! Which meant I had to also use an extra washer as a spacer on the gas CM mounts. But everything else was good. Opened the floor on all mounts not only to replace but help align and rusto paint. Having the floor open really helped align. Just gunna take the floor ones in place and leave all the others just torqued. Not going to close up the boxes. Just makes them a mud pocket for rust. I'm a anal power washer after every trail and weekly in the winter. So leaving open and just gunna keep it washed out.

Very nice looking harness. It's pretty amazing how little it takes to run even the modern truck engines, especially starting from a complete harness.

Bolted up headers. Spark plugs and wires. Installed intake and harness and vacuum tubes. More wiring harness stuff. Repaired grill body mount. Mounted grill. Final torque of all body mounts. I'm sure more... ever more. Endless more. :roll eyes:
