Primed the other head. Starting to tape off for final paint. Then time to start putting it all together!

I got lucky on mine. Had one on the far rear of the driver's side that had broken.. But the rest of the bolt was missing??? LOL. Guess someone got it out or it vibrated out.

And bro. I'd pull that oil pan just to give a good look at everything low before I went all ham.. Just speaking from experience. Rather the engine ran or not. Best to check it.

I completely agree! Gunna rotate it and pull the pan for cleanup and then paint. Ill take a gander while im in there. Im betting and hoping good news. The engine has less than 70k.

Pulled the oil pan. Took the pan to the car wash and got it degreased well. Her is a shot of the view under her skirt

When you get to doing the first crank up on this engine, I have a neat trick to priming the oil pump to get it to pick up the oil. I can't thank the minds on this board enough for teaching it to me. It involves a tub of Vaseline, a tight hole and a finger, all while laying in any position you prefer.
    Seriously it works.

Lol. I was going to pour some oil on the valves. Been keeping the cylinders treated with wd40 to prevent rust. Too bad I can't use a drill on a distributor oil pump shaft

    Any other methods?

Cram into hole generously, or vigorously.

I've heard of this before. Is it the preferred method? I've always heard of guys just pouring oil over the valves filling up the oil filter and just giving it a crank. As long as it was not a complete new rebuilt! I've even heard of some people squirting oilonto the cantaloupes through the valley. But seeing this picture in the link you sent, this really is a great idea. I think I will do this. Maybe even in more than one hole?

This is how I've done it at work, and how I will do it for my assembly on the 5.3. Nevermind the o-ring stuff.

I'm really digging this. I have 5 or 6 of those bottles saved for various reasons. Never thought of this. Ok. Going to start on it tomorrow.

Nice! Doing my pan a dark grey along with the timing cover and Heads. Was not fun cleaning that thing.. OMFG.. many wire brush wheels on my exterior parts. The aluminum gets that "white crap" all over it when sitting for a while. Like your painting though.. Nice choice of color and nicely done.

I had thought about doing an another color but decided not to so I didn't have to buy *more* paint. haha. yeah. cleaning all this stuff before the paint has been the most patience earning part of this build. Appreciate man! Im looking forward to the finished product! haha.

Packed up 3/2 home and loaded and unloaded in 48 hours. I'm #broken. Haha. This was the final delivery. Says a lot about the state of my mind if you look closely. Lmao
