I have planned all along to use the stock d60 shock mounts. Well didn't realize how much the perches had to come in. With the perches at the exact YJ length you can see where the one ubolt is cocked. It's like this on both sides.

Gotta decided to either leave it like this or move the perches over a half inch on both sides (would then match front perch span too). In that case would just have the goofy cockeyed shackles or I could order some offset shackles eventually to help a little.

I WILL NOT be outboarding the main eye hangars. No one mention this. My stupid ADD light DOES NOT need to go off right now. I got a deadline to meet lmao

I've got two different sets of shock mounts for axle tubes if you need to move the shocks I'll sell them cheaper than you can buy them

Put new shock tabs on it. Easiest fix, $10 worth of tabs.

Yeah I know man. Really it's being indifferent because I've sworn off side grinders and sawzalls. Haha. The d44 was such a pain in my ass followed by the frame mounts. So much and so many welds to grind down.

Doing the perches yesterday was simple. Cut through like butter. But grinding the welds done flush were easiest any of it has been but was enough to bring at the bitter taste

Anyways gunna grab the iron and carbon from Logan prob.

    Pic for fun

Or do this u bolt eliminator, easy enough while you haven't welded the perches... and keep your rock anchor shock mounts...

I cleaned the spindles super good. And then taped them up. About 8 months ago. Well as you can see that didn't go over too well. Gunna be sanding that down again this weekend.

So. Now a proud owner (in two days shipping time) of a ball joint spanner wrench and a 2-9/16 axle nut socket. Woot! Ugh. Jk.

I had a feelin this was gunna happen. You would think I would have mentally prepared for it. But it was a let down none the less. Been looking forward to the ease of the "bolt together" era for this build. Hit my first "didn't fit" speed bump. Lmao.

The d44 drop side ubolt config. All boogered. So a lot of people cut into webbing on the pumpkin to get a larger ubolt to work. Not my style but was prepared to. Well this POS d44 is has two webbings which then (with hole drilled) prevents the ubolt from rotating and lining up with the plate. See pic. I even tried widening the holes but it still did not work (noticed the rotate issue AFTER I fubar'd the plate. Ugh). Ok. Well ubolt flip is out of the picture and going to have to use the oem "thingy" which molds to the underside. Means I will have to use a square ubolt. Well Barnes doesn't have it. eBay and Amazon are outside my timeline. Gunna have to brave a visit to Autovance.

Maybe a local will have one...

    So on to the hunt for a 5/8 x 3 x 10 square ubolt!!!!

(3 inch tube but the squares may be measured center on center which means I may need a 3-5/8 width ubolt. The unknowns and poor internet descriptions means I need to bring the plate around to local places to find the right one. Here's to hoping for a set under 20 bones!)

Wilson Spring on Amboy Rd will make you a ubolt while you wait.
Asheville Powertrain sells them too. I have some of those spring plates from a 78 D60 if you need one.

You would think autovance would have a balljoint spanner wrench. Uh hello. All Dana 4wd front axles use the same one! (Right?) anyways got the old spacer nuts pulled out. Good shape but plan to use the new ones that came in the moog packaging (if i can find them lol). Also lugnuts came on for these oversized 9/16 studs. Found a good deal and got all lugnuts keyed style. Stoked. Ready to bolt on hubs and brake kits this weekend! Woot!

Got the rear end hubs and brake kits installed! Ready for wheels and tires! Got most of one of the fronts done. Just need to finish the locking hub then do the other side. It was a bit tricky. Took a couple hours because kept getting to the caliper stage to find the bracket wasn't spaced right. Took three times on one side and got it done the first time with the other side.

On the front I got the bracket knuckle and spindle all bolted up only to realize that I have to put the shaft in first and have to have knuckle installed then do bracket and spindle. Haha. So two times on that side. The axle was heavy enough that using the jack allowed me to tighten the lower ball joint. That was a blessing. I didn't think it would be heavy enough and would have to wait to do the front end with the engine stalled.

Well enough yappin. Here is a pic of the rear. Hopefully can have more and the fronts to show tomorrow.

    Progress! On a workday! Lol

Finished the one front hub. Didn't do the locking hub gears. That's all done. Thought for a moment I had fubar'd the whole thing but just ended up needing to pry the axle shaft outward to get the snapring on the tip.

Hopped over the final front side. Allllmost finished. The woman got home with grub from Farm Burger so that was a no brainer stopping point. Lmao.

I'm getting pretty stoked. Gotta order the transmission adapter and the fuel pump and regulator this week. Gotta get some lines and clamps and fittins too.

    Boom!

I feel like I should have packed more lube in that hub looking at that pic. I may pull those gears back out and glob some in.
