Future shop build advice

Ready for trusses tomorrow. Dude said he really likes the wetsets, esp since my concrete guys put them in the right spots.

Picked up a 36" old school Dayton exhaust fan with louvers and the motor off marketplace today for $150. No mad about it.

Day three was pretty much just gable end facia board and 2/3 of the roof. They aren't in a hurry and are pulling string lines and shooting levels on everything. They are a little weird though. They haven't shown up before 10:30 yet and always work until dark. But I'm not complaining. That they're not rushing through makes me feel a little better about what I'm paying them to do. Id have felt for if they'd have been done in 3 days.

Is that a straight pad or did it have to have footers put in on the edge?

I did 2'x2'x2' footers under each post. No idea if it's "right" though. When I built my house, the engineered plans for my similar height carport specified that size footing for each 4" steel pipe post, so that's what I did here. I'll let y'all know if it sinks into the ground or blows away.

My concern was more uplift than weight bearing. It is a 6" monolithic pour so I feel like it should be sufficiently weighted down. 40yards of concrete has to count for something.

Thanks. I was told that here 2x2x36" was code here. I think those were the dimensions. Might be 2x2x2. I'll have to ask again.

Progress has been slow, but steady. They are not rushing through and are making everything square and plumb. I don't regret hiring this out. Id have gotten pissed and several things would have been "good enough".

Looks awesome.

I really want to tear down my 22x34 stick built garage (that will need a roof soon). And extend the pad to 30x40(or so).

Doing a roof on it isn't going to be cheap, and it's going to still be smaller than I want it to be. Really debating on knocking it down and building something bigger if we plan to stay a while.

What ups with these? Extra support for the trusses?

Whats your spacing between those trusses?

Anti racking braces for the trusses. 10ft between trusses.
As a general rule I like racks... but this is not a context I'm familiar with

Parallelogramming?

They are wobbly as shit until the roof is on. The lower brace helps stabilize them and prevent them from flopping over during assembly.

Got my septic tank this week. It's a super thick dot tank for transport high specific gravity chemicals. It's super thick. 200 gals effective gallons should be good for several years worth of turds. Im picking up 50ft of ezflow tomorrow.

We modified the track on the 10ft door to follow angle of the roof. Id like to raise it some more, but it's hard to do off ladders. I'll probably work on it some more when they're done and I have my scissor lift here.

Anyone know a company that erects red iron buildings?

Got a pad poured and a 40x80 sitting here to install and the erector just bailed.
Just need the building erected and the doors installed/hung. Spray foaming after it done, plumbing, mechanical and electrical are covered.
Looking for a cold shell
Anyone know a company they can recommend?

Sorry to hear you're having erection issues. A quick internet search should yield plenty of helpful options, or even a peek at the spam folder of your email box.

I hear ya.
Unfortunately already paid for 65 loads of fill to be brought, a fire hydrant to be extended 380ft, permits, septic install, pad, driveway connectorsā€¦ and and and.
Just need to get it finished so I can get my primary shop clear of others hobby stuff.

This is the last hurdle.

About done. Waiting on a few trim pieces and 2 garage door panels. Word to the wise for any perspective buyers. Frame your openings, THEN have them order the doors. Don't assume because you ordered a package with 12x12 doors that someone has spec'd the right door for the opening. The (very VERY basic) plans showed the door 6x6 post being 12' on center, so that's what we did. Same with 10' door. Bdc ordered 12x12 doors for me. The builder and I debated over header height for like, 3 mins and both landed on same height as ID because BDC has sold hundreds of these packages and it's got to be even. Wrong. For an exactly 12'w door, the case opening needs to be 12' 3". Height needs to be the same. No one told us that. Width wise the doors don't look too bad, but the height looks stupid because of the recessed panels on the doors. The doors consist of 18 and 21" panels to make the height work out. I ordered 2 more 18" panels for my 12' doors to fix the height (replacing a 21" panel on each door).

Very happy with the trim work. They could have just slapped up what was sent and rolled on, but they actually cut and bent stuff to fit. Kinda wished I'd put a little more thought/explanation into the eave soffit. I thought that when I added soffit it would be all the way out. My guy ran the sheets all the way out, but apparently we had a miscommunication on how far out to run the actual soffit. It would have required a fair bit more work past the end of the truss and none of that was clear to me early on. My wife hasn't noticed so it's good though šŸ˜‚
