"Gonna do it right...maybe!!??" Fuller's new XJ build!!!

You gonna finish up those tack welds, right? :D

That looks like a gorilla cage from the zoo! I don't know how tall you are, but you might need a helmet on the bumpy sections. Don't crack that coconut!
Lol lol, yeah I have a nice helmet and I'm short enough lol

I think I overkilled the roll cage now that I'm looking at it in deep thought:confused:

Did I mention I finished my cage.. HOLY moly lol I think it's plenty strong
I had materials and cut and notch at work so why not, it was quick to make em all and we'll w feel pretty confident about it!!View attachment 263012

So much work, so little inherent design strength. Yes, it will probably work just by sheer quantity, but doing lots of the wrong thing doesn't make it right. Can someone please mail @marty79 a book explaining triangulation?

@Scooter402 if you want them I think Marty has gone past the point of return. Lmk.
Let me think on that one a minute...I've been contemplating links/coils on the front of my CJ, and I've eyeballed some bracket sets that look very similar to those you have. I'll get back with you by the weekend. Even if I do stash them away for a while...can't really pass that deal up.

Been toting them around for four years-ish so they ain’t going anywhere in any hurry. PM me if you’re interested

Ok ok enough about them stinking triangle. Too much work to cut out sections then more cutting and grinding and special funky cuts and longer pieces. This took me less than an hour and done plus came free from our scrap pile so win win..
You and I both know in reality that cage would and will never give under any circumstances, just saying.

Don't kid yourself, there are plenty of circumstances it would give under.

Ok just curious now for argument sake...why is heavy machinery/fork lifts/tractors and such square cages just like mine and not round with triangulation. They weigh tons more and that's what most have so it can't be that weak at all

I will take a guess at the answer to this, and this is in no way a jab at you or your build.

I think heavy machinery have cages built to support the weight of the machine if it tips over on its side.

A trail rig would need a cage that can withstand multiple impacts from different angles, with out weakening the entire structure. As in a rig rolling multiple times...

Barnes4wd. That is for 1 joint, misalignments, bung, jam nut.
Oh wow only one. I found a set of 2 for 68ish but we'll see once I get up some funds from stuff I'm selling
