Got the short course racing itch?...

Thanks to you bunch of assholes, I've spent the last three days reading everything I can find about the Lucas Regional Stock Mini-Truck series.

So does that mean you are ready to have some fun? You can only learn so much from videos. Sometimes you need a ROOSTER TAIL TO THE FACE!! to learn a little more.:D

If I can find a co-conspirator that lives less than 30 minutes away.

Chris I might have to skip building the Cherokee and buy a ranger with the proceeds from the last race rig. I will talk to you about it Monday.
You be the sponsor and I will drive for you. I'll get it on the podium. :D:burnout:

Well there are 4 of us already talking about it. With in 39 mins :)

That's what I like to hear.

I figured you guys were all tired of racing... you sold all the race cars to concentrate on going really slow over big rocks.

Four guys == four cars?

Sounds like a blast, I just sold my XJ but my MBA program is not leaving me any free time to do something like this. Hopefully next year!

that is not really the reason we all sold our stuff and moved on :)

but to be honest if we get more info on some "local" races not just WV I am sure we will have some race rigs in Raleigh

Where's Rob at? Throw us a bro lite class at some ECORS races.

Erik's talking about building 10 cars to run up there. We might just have 10 down here. The trick will be figuring out how to make them similar enough so that it's a real spec race. Need a target weight or something to work towards. If somebody does less chopping than the next guy and then adds too much tube, he could be 200 pounds off.

Looking through those Lucas builds, those guys are doing a pretty good job of stripping the factory sheetmetal, but then some of them are adding back tube like they're building a 7s car.

What's the story with the Stables? I don't really want to get into building a track... but I think we've got enough places around here that we should be able to get together 5-6 times a "season" to race, more if you count heading up north once in a while. Really needs to be something big enough to run five-wide landrush starts, though.

Round numbers, I think you can be turn-key for about $5k.

Tell Rob to do it and I will build a short course up top here at The Flats. I'm game.

I've already got 3 or 4 guys planning to bring me these trucks to build. I'm gonna lay out a simple package deal on all the fab work to make one race ready out the door minus shocks. Like if you buy the truck for a grand I'll build it and keep it under the 5k mark. What size fuel cell do you guys wanna run?

Wouldn't ever see using more than 5 or 6 gallons per race. I'm probably gonna put an 8 or 10 in. Something cheap.

Looking at Loors and what the internet says Ford Rangers weigh, I'd say you could expect a minimum weight of around 2600 or so for 2.0 trucks. Maybe 2700 for 2.3 trucks. Or maybe 100 more.

V8 prolites have to weigh 3000.

I was figuring most guys would want ten or so. Having a little extra weight behind the back axle would be nice. I don't think I saw a rule about cell placement did I?

I believe the 4 cyl min weight for the Lucas cars is 2600 with fuel and driver. And it sounded like guys were getting pretty close... But their corner weights were all over the place.

I don't know if it spec'ed. Behind the rear axle hung below the frame would be best. Wouldn't hang it any lower than the lowest part of the frame up front though.

Pro lites require you to drive over a 10" block at ride height. Everyone hangs there cell as low as it'll go and still clear the 10" block.

No, they're hanging it as far off the back and as low down as they can. The Lucas cars have to enclose the cell with 1.5 .120, so that helps, too.

Yeah, the biggest issue I saw with the silver one Will posted is that it didn't have nearly enough rear bumper.
