Killer Weldz Thread

That's soo much more bad ass than anything I'll ever weld!!! How long does it take to weld one of those up? Looks like about 20 passes on some of the larger joints!

Several hours....there's 13 passes, usually, to get the 1" weld.

That's similar to what we do at work. Only we use 1/16th flux core and will run those weld in 2 passes. Guess I'll have to post up some pic's soon too...

I think that's .045? We also have a robot welder we use on smaller ones. It's pretty sweet!

not really holding out, I just don't need to have everybody tell me I know how to weld.. :)

Good point!

I'm not sure why there's such a fascination, but no matter how many welds I see, I never get tired of seeing them. Always critiquing them, checking them out, and learning. Kinda like fun bags :D

I guess after 20+ years a weld is a weld.

90% of what we do is C02 shielded fluxcore. Fast freeze, lots of out of position work. Some of this I welded some I did not.

Few more with some painted product..

Nice Jeff! Are the woven beads done vertical up? It's hard to tell on my little iPhone screen. I used to do some of that and I know it takes more skill than I can imagine to be that uniform with that size bead! Impressive sir....

Yes, all the woven beads are vertical up. I'll run these 1" across & 3/4 deep in a 90* joint or fill a joint about the same in 1 Pass. All high production welding.

I'm known to do the same with a 7018 when I was busy with my welder..

7018 is what I learned with. I don't have a ton of experience with the heavier flux core stuff. Looks like fun. I wanna come work with you a few days. I'd probably learn a bit. There's no better way to learn than to shadow the guy who makes it look easy.

I had to have all these pictures reviewed by the suits to before I could leave the plant with my phone.

Well you're welcome to come lay a bead at my place anytime....... AND I'll even let you take pictures lol!
