It was a full bodied YJ.......people looked at us like we were lunatics...until we passed six buggies including the Torchmate rig in the first 6 miles.Outerlimits claimed us when a bad line around a broken buggy broke 4 different axle shafts in a 100 yard spanWhat are the specs of your rig? I saw you couldn't get the buggy finished in time and it looked like you were hitting it with a modded TJ.
Your team and the JKOH team were the two I was trying to follow and oddly enough, I didn't see any pics or updates the whole day...... and I watched for like 8 hours straight!
- Wheelbase?
- Axles?
- Tires?
- Weight?
- Suspension?
The only coverage I saw of you guys and team 80 (JKOH) was on Pirate right after you passed tech. The jeep looked sweet!
I followed your tracker until you got to outer limits and guessed that is where you may have broken down.
I never said he had the biggest budget. I just saw the backing he AND other big names had. It was impressive and like I said before. It makes a BIG difference!I've known the Campbells for some time. Yes, they've got sponsors, and have nice stuff. But they by no means had the biggest budget out on the lake bed. I'd wager that there were at least several other cars out there that had more money into them.
also....do not forget, the car Shannon won in is 3 years old now. AND, as far as racing w/ $$$$$$, of the fastest, big money, all-out KOH racing teams out there, Shannon is one of the very few that BUILT the car he's racing (and winning) in.

that pic says nothing. i was pitting with travis and we had 20 to 30 people just hanging around the pits most of the time. people would just walk around and hang out not help
The pic had nothing to do with the people in front of it . I thought his pits in the lakebed area was pretty cool and showed what how prepared he was. Did you look inside? It was a full on race shop in the middle of desert. He was very COOL and totaly approachable.Dude, he had a freaking had a crane @ the 30 mile marker remote pit area!! Again impressive!! If Mom and Pop, brother and friends hauled all that out there on the back of a gator then great! It just looked awesome and seemed like a whole bunch of money, time and planning went into all of it. We had all of the above but it would have taken more time money blah blah blah to be more competitive.
It takes talent AND a big budget to consistantly be in the front....That didn't use to be the case in this type racing (or any type racing in it's infancy) but it is now, period. You can get to be a great driver but at some point you're going to need $$$$ to run in the front. If you ain't got both you're what they call "filler".
My biz partner ordered a new Barry Wright dirt car chassis and new motor becuase his 2 year old one wasn't getting it done anymore. !5 years ago he could run the car many seasons and stay in the front..new technology cost $$$$$ and the faster the sport grows the faster the technology. It's rich mans racing and I figured out awhile back, I ain't rich!
BINGO !! I found this out when we rolled up to the tech line and I finally was able to see the competition. Anything can happen for sure but most of those guys were in another league. Great time and look forward to next year
