Ok guys I am back in afghanistan for my third and hopefully my last time but while Im out here I am going to by an exhaust manifold and turbo for my truck, just wanted some opinions for what turbo to go with with my upgrades? Here are my upgrades:
03' 2500 QCSB 6 speed,new injectors w/ 120hp nozzles,#110 hamilton springs,stage 3 cp3 industrial injection,AFE intake & manifold,4"magnaflow exhaust w/ 5"tip straight piped,Smarty S06 POD,Airdog 150,EV2 boost,fp & pyro gauges.
(coming soon:rebuilt 3850 SB DD clutch)
Also have 3.73 gears and 37" tires.Im thinking about going with a 64 turbo.
A guy on cummins forum has a HTT 64/74/14 and is telling me with the larger impeller it will be awesome with my 6 speed.
Any info you guys have would be much appreciated!
I have the HTT 62/71/14 and a PDI manifold. Like them both a lot. Both were installed by Adam.
Well I hear ATS is expensive for comparable manifolds but I have seen a few deals, one guy has a HTT stainless 3rd gen but I really want to do the 2nd gen swap.
What mods were you running in your yellow truck?i dont want to go to big but everyone is telling me the 62 is too small for my mods.I do tow my toyota to the trails and other things every now and then.I have found an awesome deal on a HTT 64/71/14 I have heard the 14 compressor for my truck would be better and since I have a stick it will be easier to keep it spooled I just dont want to be cruising town and blowing crazy smoke cause I cant keep it spooled.anyways just want some good advice.thanks solar!
Oh and by the way my truck still has an electrical problem and still in the shop haha! but I figured since i would be gone for 6 months or more i would go ahead and get a turbo to match my mods when it FINALLY gets out of the shop!lol!

thanks for the info solar, why not do the 2nd gen swap?Everyone I talk to says they make the 3rd gen sound awesome!but yeah i got a buddy that has done the swap and he was going to help me.
I do have an exhaust brake on my truck travis had it on this truck when I bought it from him (since you guys do live in the mountains) I have been wondering if I can keep it on there cause I have heard the new turbo might get in the way.
Well do you think i should go with the 62?I just figured as much fuel as I will have now I would need more but it is my daily driver and I dont want alot of lag.Just trying to figure out whats best before I waste alot of money on a turbo that im not going to be happy with.
the dually is sold...onto something else
The only reason I wouldn't do the 2nd gen swap is because of having to do more work and spend more money for nothing. And you will more than likely lose your exhaust brake. Is it a pac brake or jacobs? If it's a pac, you should be able to keep the brake if you do a 3rd gen manifold and turbo, but if it's a jacobs, it more than likely will not work. You should be fine with a 62 or a 64. Give HTT a call and see which one they recommend.
