Didn't use to be. I used to think that all County schools were built the same until they built Oak Grove High School. When you have your school logo laser cut into the trash cans, you fancy.

I actually designed the mechanical and plumbing on that job
According to Davidson county schools maint dept that school generates more tickets for service than all Davidson county schools combined for leaks and issues (site wise.. thank heavens not inside)

Samet truly screwed the pooch on that school
It also has the most funding than any other school in Davidson county (see tax base and PTA)

You literally proved my point ...kid is out making money. He's making $400 a day....he needs me to keep paying for his school lunch?

I'm not talking about absentee parents or whatever for every single kid. Shitty parents is a whole other story. The douchebag congressman is advocating for every single kid to get free breakfast and lunch because inflation. Im poorer too Mr . Man.

About a year ago I wanted couple things a couple states away and @Silverado_Express made the run bought a few things he needed and brought them to me. Even argued with me about paying him .

Wasn’t that hard.

But shit happens.

Does seem to be quite the self centered theme here that is emerging.

I don't doubt it. A good friend of mine from church is the head custodian there. He has some stories for sure. It just pisses me off that there is still asbestos insulation falling down at Central that they can't/won't fix but we got money for laser cut trash cans for Oak Grove. North Davidson used to be the crown jewel, but now that Oak Grove is the king of the tax hill, they will fall by the wayside, too.
 
Guess I’m just jaded from building schools on the CM side for the past six years at my previous employer and seeing all the finishes and components we had to VE out in order to meet the county’s budget.

The schools I did in Hendersonville, Chapel Hill, and Durham were pretty nice though.

I understand what @RatLabGuy is saying and pushing the fact that kids don't get to pick their circumstances or parents.

But @benXJ is right in calling out an over arching entitlement program that was put in place as a broad measure because of a rapid and temporary need. That need as it may have existed is over. There are programs in place for underprivileged kids for lunch programs. If we need to relook them, great. Let's be honest about what permanent entitlement program we are expanding.

Let's also be honest about addressing the real issue of why these kids aren't getting the nutrition and support they need from the proper place, their home.
If we don't do this, we are creating a long term problem where these kids think it's normal that the government is their mommy and daddy.

The left keeps adding to Inalienable Rights, Not sure when I first heard that "Healthcare is a Right" and recently I've heard "Eating is a Right"....

No, no they are not.. the closest we get is "“life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”..

"happiness" is a right, But you have to pursue it for yourself, this is where Food, Healthcare and Self Defense all fall here... You have a right to access but must pursue them, but you must obtain your own means, be it a Pizza, Doctor, or an AR15....

this is not what we are teaching our children though :(

Correct, rights as far as the BOR is concerned are negative. They detail what the government cannot infringe upon.

But the term “human rights” has been used to push for ever increasing entitlements.

Government largesse is a cancer.

I am perplexed that both sides claim that they have read the Constitution and one side says the NY Law is unconstitutional and the other says that overturning it is unconstitutional. Unless maybe one side doesn't actually give a rat's patooty about the Constitution.

You're half right about ONE side not caring about the constitution.... Both sides only care about their constituents interpretation of the constitution, and staying in office..

That is a problem with the anti-personal defense arguments. They couldn't all agree on which part of the 2A was being misinterpreted. Biden's famous "you couldn't own a cannon" argument was blown out of the water (all pun intended).

For the sake of argument, the only legitimate question that could be raised was the argument about militias and their context at the time of the 2A. The prevailing argument they make is that the 2A was about states rights to defend against a federal standing army.

There is just one little flaw with their current interpretation of the militia context. If you honestly believe that the 2A was about defending a states right to defend against a federal standing army, I will stand by and hear your plan to pay the Southern States for the violation of their rights in 1861 when said federal army invaded them.

I disagree with the healthcare, not everybody has health issues due to life choices.
Heathcare isn't a right based on the constitution, but with how much money this country spends on bullshit, healthcare improvements should be a better thing.
There is 0 reason that I get better healthcare for my type 1 diabetes then somebody struggling to make ends meet. I'm fortunate I can afford all the technology to keep me healthy, and all the medications I need but this stuff is not cheap, even with insurance.
A family shouldn't have to decide if they can pay for their childs cancer treatment or pay their mortgage.

Your mind probably won't be changed by this, and mine either though.
