Lots of interesting news today

I knew Lowe's employees were morons, I didn't know they were quite this dumb though...

wasn't carolinarockrunner a Lowes manager or something???

Bad news  for the area.....

Does anyone actually believe a company called "VinFast" is going to ever be anything other than a fake Vin checking website? Like there's no way this is going to actually have any real capital assets. It will be vaporware that creates a suction on the tax incentives and then disappears.

Have you looked up this company? I'm not totally convinced they will be here for the long haul either, but it is a real company that is producing cars in vietnam as we speak.

Haha, no. Don't see the need to. Would you drive a VinFast? I can't get past the name.

just looked them up the VF 9 isnt a bad looking suv. BUT the battery subscription plan that they are trying to sell people on seems crazy 160 dollars a month for basically a battery warranty.

They are basically looking at tech companies that have all tried to be moving to subscription services to keep revenue going, and car mfg's want to do the same. I think they are trying to alleviate the concern that people have of having to fork out 5-10k for a new battery at some point.

Hell look at BMW wanting to charge monthly for heated seats, etc also, which is even crazier to me.

Just wait until you post something online that angers someone at [insert your cars mfg] and they lock you out of your car and disable your ignition

Or just like air travel, oh sorry our backend database went down, you won't be able to move your car until this is resolved. Current ETA: Unknown.

i put 90 a week in my company truck
yeah, and that wouldnt change. Imagine you had to pay an additional $160/month to make sure your tank and fuel pump worked correctly in your truck.

completely agree. i think a subscription is stupid. although the idea of battery "insurance" on an electric car isnt a bad idea either i dont know how you would accomplish it at a lower rate.

Several car mfg sell a bare bones model (like the wrangler) and hardly anybody buys it.
I can't get over all the stripped down models that most manufactures make for foreign markets. I would love them here but americans want all the gadgets! I still think that has driven new car cost more than cafe regulations.

I absolutely agree. Over the last few years, I think they would have sold whatever they made. But people might complain or not buy with the prices they charge, for a base model. They want to add in the gadgets because that brings the margins, is my guess. The value for the gadgets has to be high, as they are currently choosing to complete/sell fewer cars that have the gadgets vs more cars without them.
