International Paper bought the pulp mill side and it's still operational. It only smells funky down wind or when it's foggy. My sister used to live maybe two miles from it and I never smelled it. I figured it went up and over.

There's actually two sides to the whole plant, both a pulp mill and a saw mill. It's the pulp mill that smells weird, but the saw mill that's closing and is still owned by Weyerhaeuser. They did a pretty poor job of explaining that they're different entities.

Now that makes a lot of sense. I read some articles about the pulp mill being sold to IP several years back, I didn't realize they were two separate entities. I've been down 43 dozens of times and always thought it was all weyerhaeuser. I've always noticed the funk up by the glenburnie area. Never really in the eastern part of town though.
 
I've smelled it as far as the main gate of Cherry Point before when the wind was blowing that direction. It was weird!

It's not tooo awful though. Kinda that sulfur, boiled egg fart kinda scent.

Need me to take your place? I love going to Disney World. Last year the wife and I went for our 20th anniversary without the kids and it was the best trip ever.

Make sure you do the Tron ride, Guardians of the Galaxy, and of course the Star Wars rides.

I love going to Disney too, both with and without the kids. Already looking forward to taking our youngest in a few years.

I've been 6 times..... so I've already done all that.:D I've been to Disney Land in Cali and Euro Disney too.

Her commentary is off on a few points in my opinion. She paints Massey as perfectly normal, but if you watch the full video and listen carefully, she seems to be having some type of mental episode and having a little bit of erratic behavior, which is probably what put them on edge (that's not a reason to shoot her, but part of the full scenario that they encountered and must be taken into account). The comment about "you shouldn't be a cop if you're afraid of hot water" or however it was phrased...someone throwing boiling water at you is justification for deadly force according to use of force experts. And the snide comment about Trump (felon as a President) was dumb and detracted from her point.

With that said, all the news reels are showing the snippets where the view is unclear and blocked by the island, but if you watch this video, she's not even holding the pot!

This is where I feel like the video I posted was spot on. I don't believe they were on edge. I think (like the commentator) they were irritated soon after arriving. Now I'm not one to immediately jump on the "that's racist" bandwagon because if you describe a person by using ethnicity at ALL you get labeled a racist :rolleyes: However, having been around enough folks of all races and seen way too many folks with shear hatred towards another for their color....I feel pretty comfortable calling Shooter McGavin a flaming racist that had had enough of being jerked around by this girl.
Instead of calling for a mental health evaluation and getting a councilor on site, he proceeds to basically Terry stop her.

She never attempted to throw the water, only said "I rebuke you in the name of Jesus" ... Clearly that demon was thinking that was holy water and he was about to be cast out.
