Military Vehicles Thread

Shopping spree today. Been needing to buy some stuff to sell, didn't really plan to buy so much at once haha. Now to wait a month or so for paperwork to clear so I can pick the trucks up... Picking up the trailer Tuesday.

If all goes as currently planned, I will be taking my family for a flight from Stafford, VA to Greenville, SC in this B-24 (closest in the picture). Date will be sometime around October 26th. Turns out the guy that pilots the plane needs some truck parts so we are working a trade. Once I know exact date I will update. I suggested flying past Pilot Mountain, and he said that should not be a problem, maybe even circle the mountain a time or two. Would be flying in formation with the B-17, B-25, and TF-51. If anyone wants to fly once they arrive in Greenville, there is a screenshot of the website provided.

I am VERY excited to say the least.

Who would think they would put such fancy suspension on trailers? I am going to keep the smaller (front) trailer--but selling one identical to the front one as well. Massive reservoir shocks on both of them, trailer in the back has full air ride.

May actually put some cheaper shocks on them before they get sold, the shocks are worth too much to be on a trailer...

Well, it is the government, and it is everybody else's tax money... so why not....

Just thought I'd put this up.
Located somewhere on Hwy 10, Casar NC. Chevy? Tow Mater? For Sale?

That looks like an International M-3-4. They're pretty awesome trucks!

Also, @Tacoma747 What engine/trans are in that?

They're definitely not 46' or 53' :D 46 or 53" maybe!

Took the bed that had storage boxes on it off yesterday, was pretty easy, held on with 4 container locks. Added some 1/4"X4" flatbar and now I have a RZR hauler. Would be a good buggy hauler if modified more. Trailer weighs probably 2500 lbs as it sits, and is rated for 9,500lbs so lots of room to haul something.

Pics are with bags raised, and bags empty. I drop the air to make it lower for loading. The RZR barely scraped while loading it.

Borrowed a friend's RV (actually used to be mine) to go pick up the m548 yesterday from a guy that was supposed to have worked on it (so much for that).

Part of the reason I sold the truck was it won't make it up my driveway, had to pull it up with the wrecker.

The RV is a Freightliner M915a2 with Detroit 60 series. It is a great pulling truck, and is like a sports car (compared to any other military trucks) when empty.

Got me. Been so long since I have looked at a 5-ton or a deuce I wouldn't know if it was for one of them, but if I had to guess it is a trans cooler for a 5-ton.

Well either be doesnt know what he has, or he/you got the year wrong. I just figured the old stuff has manual transmission so no need for a cooler, so would likely be something with an auto (m939 series). But they are ~85+. 91 was a common year though.

Oh I may his misheard him then or he didn’t know!? He was def a older gentlemen in mid 80s. I thought m939 replaced the 809 in the 70s? I probably heard wrong on what that came off of... I need more military truck knowledge tho but can’t afford to have toys that big I’d end up single quick...Lol was a cool project that took longer to prep then to fix it!
