Military Vehicles Thread

Buy your own excavator haha. I have been clearing off about a 1/2 acre that was heavily wooded for a guy down the street from my house. Got the last tree knocked down just before the rain started. Knocked a bunch down with the skid steer first, now I have to work on putting them all in piles. He will have 3-4 massive brush piles when I am done.

I saw your truck parked out there yesterday and this morning.

They are stout, and he can't complain with what he has in it either! Brand new trailer at about 15% new cost. I don't have a dime in my trailer haha. There were 7 available, I wish I (could have) bought all 7 of them...

Looks like your OshKosh did pretty damn good on GP. Very impressive. Do you buy thru them also or does Ft. Bragg have something separate? Been curious lately how to get past the "off road use only" stamped on the SF-97. Been trying to do some research into that. Have you found any methods that work particularly well for you?

Honestly it didn't bring as much as thought it should have, but I am still making money on the sale. Currently there isn't a way I know of to get around the off-road only stamp.

I gotcha. Well some profit is better than no profit. I'm curious to see how some of the other items on GP did, so I'll be checking those out pretty soon. As for the off road stamp...thanks for the input. I heard there is some legislation moving around in this House Session, so maybe something will come of it. But I think its more aligned toward the safety standards affidavit. Oh well. I would like to hear more about how you do whatever it is that you do...but I based on reading this thread...sounds like it's sort of a trade secret. Or title things as RVs...lol.

Anyway...impressed with the toys in your stock pile. Keep posting your cool schtuff!!!

HMMWV's are the only things titled off road only. If you can get a dealership to sign the affidavit you are good to go, but only an idiot for a dealer would sign it (liability).

Tagging the big trucks as RV's definitely makes tagging them cheaper.

As for buying to resell, not much I can say other than if you want to do it, take a guess on what to buy and try your luck. Sometimes you come out sometimes you don't.

This is the one I bought today. It's a non-runner so I will likely part it out, but will try to get it running first.

I hate riding on helicopters. Cool story, Helicopter Strike Force, Assault Cell Leader 2008-2015.

Short story of a galaxy far far away. In ‘06-‘07 I was in Baghdad running a PSD team for a 2 Star and we had a meeting to go to in Ramadi with the USMC Commandant in Iraq (3 Star) we had our own blackhawks but due to maintenance issues we had to make the call and the Marines sent down aviation to pick us up. Time was agreed upon and as we waited on the HLZ from the horizon came a Super Cobra/ Huey gunship combo escorting a pair of CH-46 Sea Knights. From miles off you could hear the chud-chud-chud of the rotors. I swear to God you could hear Fogerty singing Fortunate Son in the background as they came in to land. It is a good feeling having that much hate escorting you wherever you’re headed to.
I was over that way in '05-'06...I can still hear those rotors thumping in my head too. :smokin:

Just dropped this off to a customer in Wilkesboro. Installed a turbo/overdrive drivetrain, hard top, seats, new exhaust, gauges, and various other stuff. He is having I painted, lizard skin and insulation/carpet inside, then once I get it back I will be building bumpers, a tire carrier, and finishing up some other stuff I couldn't do before paint.

That's pretty sweet!

Kind of hated to see this one go. It sure was cool looking, but way underpowered for what it weighs. Kind of interesting, the trucking company that hauled it to the buyer hauled the front half to me, as well as the back half a few years before that.

those aluminum ramps dont look like they would be very useful for loading that rascal.

Yea he was going to get the ramps so I could drive it up on the rear, I told him I felt confident it would do it without the ramps haha. But actually those ramps are rated pretty high normally, I have loaded quite a few trucks on ramps like those.

We have line haul trucks come in and back out every month for priority stuff or oversized vehicles that units can’t railhead. It amazes me the way they load and unload stuff. Most use lowboys like the one pictured but they put some crazy loads up on normal flatbeds too. I know the drop off and pickup days and have to use a different gate when they come/go cause they clog up everything. There are some damn nice looking rigs though. Obviously they do all right with shipping fees contracting for Uncle Sam.

Were you sitting on the ramp from 311 to 40 yesterday? Saw an old OD green semi tractor on the side of the ramp.
