Modern Mowers....

Zero turns love ditches. High level of attraction between the two.

I've gotten to the point that I don't even bother wondering if I can mow a ditch bank. If I have to think about it, then it's a no from me dawg! I always seem to get stuck as absolutely far away from my truck as possible too and the walk of shame is never fun.

Did the intake go under? That would just add insult to injury!
I can mow for half an hour and no cars ride by. As soon as I try the ditch bank and inevitably get stuck, one of my neighbors will ride by.

1000% and every time I have to pee!

I always stare straight up. Folks will see you and look up also, wondering what you're looking at!

Well, used mowers with low hours are high.
I found that Kannapolis Power Equipment has brand new scratch and dent Husqvarnas for a good deal. Picked this up today. It met all the checkboxes:
fabricated deck
2-cylinder Kawasaki
Locking differential

Still pretty happy with the Husky? I'm in the market right now, and have very similar needs to what you said you had (Hilly yard, Lots of obstacles) and the TS 242XD seems to be at the top of the list for me...

I am really happy with it. The locking diff makes a huge difference on my hills.
I’m also surprised at how much easier it steers than my old troy-bilt.

Awesome, thanks so much! Now I just gotta actually find one!

If you ever come to URE, there’s a dealer in Denton, NC that has scratch and dents.
My usual usual uwharrie run is memorial day, so past for this year already, but maybe an extra trip this year is in order...

I alway make sure to scrub the hell out of the underside of the deck and then soak the heck out of it with oil/grease/ etc. to keep it from rusting out. My mower sits under an overhang on gravel so it’s susceptible to the moisture.

Pull it in the shed and turn it off. Probably should do more, but admittedly I still use it occasionally for moving stuff.

Same no fuel issues running non ethanol. If the gas in the cans gets to be 3 months or so old i always put in the wifes car. So 3 or 4 times a year i fill all the cans up with fresh.

I run non ethanol in anything in my yard that I can't drive to the store. I keep 2 5 gallon cans filled. I don't winterize anything because well we dont have a real winter and I usually end up cutting about once a month even in winter.

How do you guys winterize your mower? I wanna run it out of gas, clean grease and oil change. Anything else I should do?
As @Hurley said, stabil is a must, even with non ethanol fuel.

I have pulled similar use carbs apart where both used non ethanol fuel and the one with a fuel stabilizer always look better. Aluminum surfaces will look bright and fresh vs the thick yellow varnish you find on carbs that sit with no stabilizer.

Keihin/Mikuni 2 stroke dirtbike carbs with smaller pilots will clog in 1-2 weeks even with non ethanol and draining; zero issues with stabilizer.

I wouldn't put oil in the gas unless you are trying to preserve for display.

my son bought a Gravely for his lawn care business.

Overall he likes it.

Somewhat of a derail.
I'm getting too old and fat to push mow our yard these days. Been looking on FB Marketplace for a disposable big box store riding mower for the more hilly part of our property.
Couldn't believe what a crappy, throw away green, red or yellow rider is going for used these days.
Last time I was Lowes I noticed what used to be $1400 riders are now around $2500, so that explains it!

Get use to it. I'd say craftsman GT5000 or Husqvarna, or even the all-metal Murray's/MTD's of the 90s would be tits. Try having any interest in the JD/Simplicity/Cub Cadet garden tractors of the 80s/90s 🤮
