Mutt yj build - scrambled

I got most of the brake parts and started getting everything ready to assemble the knuckles and brakes on the front axle. Got a set of ECGS tacoma caliper brackets and went with the larger tundra calipers and rotors. Also went ahead and reamed the highsteer arms for 1 ton chevy tie rod ends

The only downside to this is my wms will be widened by 3.25" which will require me to run 1.5" wheel spacers on the rear. The upside is this will put me at 64" wms which i think will work well.

Could swap in a Tacoma 8.4 rear, they are around that wms.

I have a early tacoma e locker rear right now, the 8.4 rear would be the same wms and not accept my e-locker third member. I would have to swap to an 05+ housing to get the wider wms. The wheel bearing setup on the newer housings is kind of expensive and a pain to replace. I will keep what i have and just run a set of spacers, i have no major concerns with them really.

Not sure why I thought the Taco rear was that wide. Running the spacers should be fine, I need to order matching ones for the rear of my truck.

Could do either a tundra 8.4, or fj80 rear (my fav and what ill be running)

Also chris take note, this is what we will have to do on my j60 axle to get the width I need

Rolled it out outside today, put a leveling kit on a friends truck and have to help another do caster bushings on an fj80 tomorrow so it needed to move. Had a set of 33" tires on a set of stock 4 runner rims i put on it to move around, i did put a set of 1.5" spacers on the rear

Well this project got sidelined again after last winter. I have realized it will be more of a long term project. I pulled back in the garage a month ago and decided to strech it before i went to much further with the plumbing and driveshafts.

I picked up another tub from here on nc. If you look back at some of the earlier pictures you can see the donor tub in the background. I have had the idea to do this for awhile.
After some research i found that an lj is 14 7/8" longer than a yj/tj but the wheelbase is only 10" longer. I decided to strech both the tub and wheelbase 14 7/8. Still have a ways to go but making some progess

Yj frame is 2.5x4, i will be streching it under the center of the tub with a piece of 3x4 .25 wall box tube. I also have a set of swag bomb proof body mounts that will be going on at the same time. The tub will come off the frame for that portion one i finish the tub up.

Looking good Big Man! Let me know when you are ready for shafts, I'll hook you up.

Nothing to crazy lately other than lots of grinding and welding on the tub. I decided i would come back to finishing up what body filer i would need later. Decided to go ahead and pull the tub for the frame strech

Decided i am going to cut the frame and strech it in the center of the rear body mount, will require cutting the spring hanger off and putting it back on. But i believe that will be the best place to extend the frame
