Hey folks, I really hate that I have to miss the clean up this weekend.

Just in case though, I have called The Outpost and secured trash bags for all to use, and also...if needed, the use of Chris Cagel's tag along trailer for you guys to put all the gathered trash in. He said he would haul it off to the dump when filled.

So...to the leader of the pack...at Saturdays meeting at the Outpost, make sure to go inside and talk to Chris about the bags and trailer usage. He will be expecting ya!

Or, go ahead and call ahead to make arrangements.
Out Post number is 1-910-572-3474

Yall have fun and Git-er-done!

wow. you're basically the man.

I have a call in to Teresa about the work logs. Waiting on a return call from her so I can figure out where to pick them up at. Also going to see about some trail markers.

Thanks for calling Chris @ the outpost. I'll be sure to check with him first thing. I'm going to try to show up a little early at the outpost to get things in order. I'm not much of a morning person so wish me luck! :p

post up your phone number in case some folks are running late or has problems on the way up. Don't want to wait on folks that are a no show, or gonna be real late.

should be there,
If I miss anyone around 9 at the outpost, I'll just wait for some people to show up and take them out on a trash run and then bring it back to the outpost.

need pics for proof.
Also - this isn't just the trails right?

This is the WHOLE park right?
So wouldn't we need to make runs to the boat ramps and kings mt pt etc etc etc....

Me and a small group will be out there all weekend wheeling but we always pick up trash as we see it.

Well the Trail Jammers are now an official volunteers for the Grand Father Mountain Ranger station.

So we are good to go for Sunday.

I am printing up a sign in sheet for all that show up for brown mt clean up, Your name along with the hours you volunteer will be logged with the forest service. We will clean the main parking lot first in order to maybe catch some of the late arrivals. We should be there until 9:30am at least.

My plan is to have two groups, One group work around trail #1 and the other group work up trail #8 meeting at the top, The large rocky area I believe is close to the middle, Or we just keep working until we meet in the middle.

I have a small trailer that can be pull along on the trail to hold bags.

Has anyone gave thought to putting plastic and cans in bags that could be recycled? I just know that allot of what we pick up will be that. It is illegal in Burke County to throw away plastic bottle and alum. cans. I thought about clear bags for that and colored bags for trash.

You all can reach me at: 704-401-6054

I will have service at the outpost, but doubtful I will have any service once on the trails.

The plan is just the trails, parking lots and possibly various campgrounds.

I just got off the phone with Teresa Savery with the USFS. She is emailing Janet and letting her know that we will be stopping by on Saturday morning around 9:30am to pick up supplies for the clean up. These supplies will include trash bags, trail markers, hammers and nails.

Also, please let me know if you will need a trail pass for the day. Most of us have year passes already, but I know some may need some. The forest service is allowing us free passes for the day for cleaning up the trails. Please send me an email, PM or give me a phone call to let me know if you need a pass.

Looks like we might have some flier/logos after all. I'm gonna have them printed on card stock so they'll be a bit sturdier. Staples seems to be the quickest and cheapest place to get that done. I'm going to try and get 50 sheets with the logo printed twice per sheet so they can be cut in half. (100 printed logos) If anyone else has better ideas or knows where I can get these printed on card stock or similar medium for less than $50 let me know.
