NC4X4 Hunting and Fishing

Good looking work. Probably not worth the stress of waiting but nice mount none the less. My grandfather had one mounted laying down curled up where you could position it looking towards the door. People would get all nervous when they walked in and glanced over at it.
I plan on putting this on the partial wall between my kitchen & living room looking towards the front door. At 8'+ off the ground, it won't be in anyone's normal line of sight, but it may catch people off guard.

Finally got this mount back.

Bastard came out right when I normally have deer on my feed. He ruined my hunt so I had to let the AR eat. I’ve killed many things with an AR and 77 grain. It’s usually clean through and through. This particular time it blew this dude’s guts out. Entry wound is in his chest. He was trotting at me. I put him on the scales. He was around 30 to 35. It’s old crusty scales that aren’t accurate. Wasn’t huge, but enough to disrupt the deer in the area. Roadrunner can rest easy for a bit.

Yotes are the only animal I'll take any shot at (running, wounding, glancing, max range, etc.)! Everything else I'll wait for an effective kill shot so I don't have to track very far, but I hate yotes!

No pics, too busy w 4 Bluefish in 4 casts on the beach at CB. Water has been dirty since saturday. This afternoon it cleared to the breakers and I started slinging steel, 20 mins later I saw fish busting up the beach. Ran down there and hooked one on 4 casts in a row. Lost 2 of them at beach, caught 2 more in 15 mins. let the 4th off it spit the hook before I could pull the hook. Lots of fun and some dinner. Also caught some spots on bottom rigs.

I did the diff tournament at calo last weekend. Man the fishing was great. Drum, flounder pompano whiting grey trout puffer black drum spot and a lady fish. If the flounder were in season most would have kept.

I heard peeps were getting limits of spanish, blues, big pompanos, spots and crokers on the KB pier last tues.wedns.

9 point, 16.5” spread, 150lbs. Tracked him about 200 yds. Not a drop of blood. Had to keep starting over from where I shot him to track his prints through the pines. It was tough, but I ended up walking right on top of him after about 30 minutes of searching. Now that I got a decent one out of the way, I’m gonna sit tight and wait on a giant the rest of the season.

As I’m sitting here trying not to fall asleep I was wondering if any of you guys use a saddle to hunt out of

Interested to hear your feedback.

I keep wanting to try one. I invested heavily in stands this year but am still left with a few areas I’d like to saddle hunt on a Run n gun style hunt. Especially where I hunt in central VA. It’s a small tract so flexibility for the wind and patterns would be helpful.

Interested in hearing your review as well. I've got a climber that can be worn on your back, but its bulky & loud. Granville county: ground sitting until ML when I can hunt from the back porch (2 acres), Cabarrus county: tripod stand (must be 9' off ground when using a center fire), Stanly county: ground blind & tree stand.

So I’ve used one some a little bit this year and haven’t used a regular stand yet. I’ve hunted out of it 4 times this week alone. Tried to put a climber up the other day and I felt sketchy in it after being in the saddle. I think they are better than a climber but for a long hunt I’d still rather be in a full seat hangon.

I’ve been in a tree as big as my arm to one I could barley get a climbing stick strap around.

Do you use the climbing sticks to get your height or another method?
