Another great day spent on the 4x4 beach. Heading south in the morning to Hatteras and then Ocracoke tomorrow night to stay at Blackbeard'a Lodge.

Spent the night here on Ocracoke and discovered that it has some nicely updated rooms and been a lodge since 1937.

Then headed to Cedar Island on another boat ride.

Nope. All vehicles on the front row had them. As in front I mean at the stern I guess.

The wife and I have said for years that our retirement plan is to buy a camper/rv and sell everything else...and be one of those camp greeters. Most of the rangers I've talked to say those people get a free spot, free hook ups and a $300/mo stipened. And who actually ever goes over and talks to them. Pretty sure most are capped at a 3 month stay, but just rotate campgrounds up and down the OBX all year.

Ended up making it to Cape Lookout lighthouse on the last day to climb for the season. Also today they are starting to convert the light over to the new LED system from the old style rotating light. Really cool and one of the memorable things of the trip.

If you're still there go to the waterfowl museum it's right there at the ferry

Or go right to the jetty and limit out on the specks! It's not too far from the lighthouse.

Made it home safely and averaged 11.2 mpg for the entire trip. That's the total mileage for this trip v v v.

I towed a 4x8 enclosed trailer hauling myself, my wife and 4 teenagers with a 2004 explorer over the dune with no issues

Very doable. Just use common sense and try not to stop in the loose stuff or going up the dunes. Well worth the trip IMO. We are going back this year the week after Labor Day with some of the family.

Air down and you’ll be fine. 22psi to start, 16-18 if you start having problems

Just an FYI if you haven't heard starting memorial day you have to purchase a pass to park on the beach.
