This weekend wasn't very productive but got a few things done.

-brake lines secured/strapped to the frame
-propane tank is mounted in it's permanent spot
-propane lines are run along the frame rail and are strapped nicely
-Compressor manifold is mounted permanently and main air line run
-I did some straightning up of some electrical wires
-bumpers are partially finished
-I had to kinda retro fit a Barnes skid plate to make it work but I think it will do a fine job. I just have it mocked up as of now. I will need to clean up some torching I had to do and paint it.

I had mixed emotions about doing it but I'm turning both my bumpers into air holding tanks. I don't know how safe that is but I figured 1/4'' wall bumpers would be safe enough. I'm only going to have a little over two gallons of air reserve but that should suffice. I have my old tank out of the ole CJ I built. It holds about 2.5 gallons it self. If I can find a place to mount it that would be wonderful to have almost 5 gallons of air reserve cause 43'' tires sure hold alot more air than my old 35's.

I also just ordered the last of my switches to match my ARB switches I have already mounted. They include switches for my fans, rock lights, and start switch. I'm hoping my switch panel turns out nice and neat looking. I'm not being lazy about my wiring this time because I want it safe and neat as possible.
Going along w/ the "Safe" part I just ordered some nice fused relays to do it right.

I finished up the rear bumper today and got it burnt in. For some reason I just wanted to keep the bumpers simple and slick. I hope it looks slick after I get it painted. It's made out of 2x6 .250 wall so I shouldn't have to worry about it to much. I did tap it for an air fitting and a drain. It held air no problem. Also went ahead an built some shacle mounts for it. I'm almost thinking about bending some tube and building a step similar to the ones on the rockers.

Also got a pic of my propane tank mounted along w/ the bumper. The tank is a tight fit but it will work just fine. It will just be a pain getting it back in full. I may end up cutting a hole in my fender well to run my fill line through just so I don't have to take the tank out to fill it. I'm thinking that would be great.
Now I just need to take the brackets back out and give them a fresh coat of paint.

Here's a pic of my skid plate mocked up. I had to torch out for my crossmember brackets that hang down about 2''. I'm trying to decide whether to box in around the cross member brackets or just leave it like it is.

I finished up my front bumper and got it mounted along w/ my shackle hangers. I didn't get any pics though.
I also got about 95% of my air line system complete. All air lines are run to all my tanks. My bumpers/air tanks hold a little over two galons of air reserve which is sufficient but I wanted a little more. I got to thinking the 3'' tube running across between the frame horns in the very front of the YJ frame would make a good air tank. So that is what I did and it turned out great! I just cut some round plugs and welded the ends up. It holds only about 3/4 of a gallon but now I have almost three gallons of air all combined not including the air hoses.
I know that's not enough to air up 43's but it's a start. I also have my old air tank that holds 2.5 gallons if I can find a place to mount it.

Make a smooth "bump out" or a slider of sort for it. That random square edged rock will reach out and grab it causing all kinds of havoc. My stupid factory squared up cross member hung me this weekend allowing my whole truck to turtle around in the trail with all four tires pawing air. Smoother I'd have glided across instead of stopping in my tracks. Jeep is looking good.

Kenneth, I think I would put as gradual of a slope so it has as much slide property as possible. In other words, make it appear to be covering something a lot bigger than what it is.

Bumpers look good. simple, yet functional.

Whittling the list down fast. Next up, working the sleeper to go on your trailer.

You would just have to see it in person but there really isn't a whole lot sticking out. Maybe an inch to 1.5 inches. Plus it's so close to the front bolt hole I won't be able to put much slope on it anyhow. I will probably end up putting something over it but it will probably cause more problems than if I didn't.

Simple is kinda what I was going for. Just hope they aren't to plain after I paint them. I don't know what color to do Black or red.

Yeah the list is shrinking pretty quick! Finally!!! I could be wheeling by the weekend if my switches would come in.
As far as the sleeper it can sit there a while. The next thing I'm going to rebuild is my relationship w/ the wife.:D She's been suuuper patient the last few months w/ me so I definately owe her.

I would like to inquire as to the ladder design for me to get in and out with?:lol:

Ah it's not that tall Don. With that new back of yours you should be able to jump up in there.:bounce:
As far as riding your welcome any time I have an open seat. I'll make you regret you ever sold yours to get a stinking boat.

I had a brain fart when I cut my bumpers. I turned the welded seam out on both bumpers. You will be able to see a crease after I pain them but oh well. No turning back now. I got them all sanded smooth other than the crease and ready to be painted tomorrow.

I also worked on my air sytem and it is 100 percent complete plus a few extras. I ran two air chucks in the lines while I was at it. One in in the front driver fender well and the other is mounted to the frame on the passenger rear wheel well. I think if I can keep the dirt out of them they will be super nice and I won't have to carry a real long air hose.
I also got the air line ran for my front ARB which wasn't to much trouble.

I got my relays in the mail today and am waiting on my switches to get here anytime.

Funny story. Last Friday night I was laying under the jeep and my oldest son was up in the seats and he hollard and said here is the key to the console! It is a Tuffy Security console. I'm like oh no. It wasn't lost. So I told him not to touch it or put it in the console. Well just guess what he did. Yep he put it in the console and shut the lid. I didn't really think nothing about it till Saturday when I tried to open it and aparently he had locked it before he shut the lid. I blew my top:kaioken:. After about five hours I finally cooled down. The lock smith wanted $60 just to come out so I said crap on that and figured I was going to have to cut the bolts off underneath and cut a hole in the bottom to retrieve the key. But I waited and called Tuffy and they made me jump through all kinds of hoops for security reasons but I should have a key on it's way. I guess kids will be kids. They are the reason for the build and have been under my feet every step of the way but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Kennith, on my Jeep, I used rubber caps, that go on Hydraulic fittings. They have a ring that stretches over the end with a strap, connected to the cap. Works great, & wont get lost!
As for kids, my Boss's 2yo boy, has a thing for taking keys! So he can't leave any key around, lawn tractor, car, whatever, might not find what the kid did with them!

I was thinking the same thing. Either the ones that cap over or the ones that push in. Doesn't matter to me as long as I can keep the dirt out of the couplings.
Mason promises the key is in the box. He even said he sat it up toward the front of the box. We'll just see when my key comes in. I'm just glad I'm not having to cut a big hole in the box.

I didn't get anything done to the Jeep this weekend at all. I took some time off and spent the weekend w/ the family camping. We had a great time. Especially the kids. This was the Halloween weekend there at the campground so the kids ended up w/ about three grocery bags full of candy.

I did get the rest of my switches in the mail Thursday so hopefully I can have everything wired up by maybe Tuesday.
