The Money Pit- Lockedup5's YJ on Tons-- Updated Phase Two 2016-- 6.0 swap!!!

You can likely weld up that tranny crack. Id take this opportunity to beef up the skid & crossmember.

Hit me up and i can give ya a trick to keep from burping those beads

I don't really feel like pulling the tranny right now so I will probably just add some gear oil and a diaper once in a while. lol
I will be beefing up the skid for sure. I'm not a 100% sure my x member is bent yet. but don't know why the PS pulley is hitting the spreader either.

Spill the beans on the anti-bead burping trick

Video by my 12 year old son

Well Crap, I try again tonight on the laptop.

lets try this again

Thank you very much. It was alot more dramatic while sitting in the driver seat. It didn't look near as hard of a hit on video.

At 1:30 is where it shook our teeth.

I took my skid off this evening and cleaned up the tranny and ground the paint off and seen exactly where it was cracked and leaking. I put some Goop adhesive/sealant on it. Hopefully it will stop it from leaking.

Might could try jb weld. Would need to get it clean & dry first but should likely work.

Here is a pic of how my winch plate turned out. I'm pretty happy with it.

Sheesh.....mud on the tires, rusty fairlead, cracked transmission case and round-red headlight bezels... probably couldn't get much more than an old used canoe for it now. :flipoff2:

Holy cow Batman, is that mud I see on the tires!?!? That will cost points at the car show :fuck-you:

Hoping to change that rusty fairlead to a nice polished aluminum w/ some synthetic rope before long. I just needed to get something on there considering I've already been winched twice.

When I named this thread "The Money Pit" I wasn't wrong. I finally added up my stack of reciepts tonight. When I got done I kinda threw up in my mouth a little. Bad thing is I still have a little more to spend on it.

Good thing now is I got the skid pan reenforced good and the tranny stopped leaking so she's ready to wheel again. :driver:

I told you to never, and I mean never to do that. just put them up in a file just in case needed in the future. but never take a calc. to the same area the file is at. lol.
when you first started the build. it was going in a slightly different direction. a lot more of the cj parts were going to be used. a few items that I know that made it truly hit the " Money pit" status - atlas. alum. links, ori's, racelines. but also cant forget the ft 60 blowing its budget.
I just have 1 question. can I borrow some $$$ ? LOL!
man, it turned out awesome. and you should be proud. maybe we should see who can guess the closest to how much you have in it.
my guess- 26k

yea should've never done it. But it's done. I was just curious. I did use what I could off the CJ but it didn't help much.
I'm broke so no you can't borrow any.
That's not exactly a bad guess.

Bought a red/black Grant steering wheel for it last night and a couple more shackles. Hopefully they will be here before the end of the week.

Trying to convence the wife to let me go to Moab the first week of June. It's her b-day and out 10th anniversary that week so we'll see.
