I've not done much to the jeep lately except wheel it and put it in parades but I did manage to get me a new steering wheel on it. I will be installing my CB and radio over Christmas vacation and it should be ready for the new year!!
My shifter boots will be made and installed this week.

Kenneth I am very proud of how this thing has turned out. I would recommend you work to anyone. I know you and your family will enjoy this for a long time.

^^^ Dayam... I think that's the first nice thing I've seen him post about you Kenneth! ...don't expect anything like that from me! :flipoff2:

Granny,
I have to spend 40 hours a week with him.....LOL!! :burnout: He is a really great guy and one hell of a fabricator inside work and outside.

^^^^^^^^^^ He just tells people I work for him. I'm the one that keeps him out of hot water at work. That's why he's so nice to me.
And no I didn't get a bonus (cause we don't get Christmas bonuses)just a nice little raise.:D

Thanks for the kind words.o_O

I've got a couple little updates to report. I'm trying to finish up all the little stuff and in the mean time doing a few adjustments that need to be made as I find them.

I finally got my CB and radio installed
I went w/ a Cobra 29 digital CB radio and a Wilson 2000 antenna and it seems to be doing great.

I also installed my radio and speakers too. The radio isn't pushed in all the way in that pic.
The radio is a Sony marine and was planning on using marine speakers but they wouldn't fit in the boxes that I bought that install in front of the wheel wells. So I had to go w/ a regular set of Sony Explodes 6x9-4way

They sound pretty good but I don't know how they will stand up to the weather and the water they will get on them when I have to wash it out.

Got my shifter boots made a couple weeks ago and I installed them. They turned out alright I guess.
Also made some shifter knobs for my twin stick. I don't like them to good so I'm going to remake some later.

Here is a couple modifications I've had to do.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread my power steering pulley was running really close to my spreader bar between my hoops. When I pushed my skid pan up and cracked the transmission on my second ride it also shifted my engine forward just a tad. Maybe 1/8''.
It was just enough that when I was going down hill the engine would shift forward just enough for the pulley to hit the spreader bar and grind on it.
So I modified the spreader by just cutting out a small section and reenforcing it. That solved my problem.

Bad thing is I'd started noticing a lot of engine roll thinking the motor mounts were just starting to get broke in. I was wrong. Part of my problem w/ the engine shifting forward and rolling so much was my transmission mount bolts were all but worked completely out so everything was rolling. So I took my skid off and loctited and tightened the tranny mount bolts good and it solved all my roll problems w/ the engine. I don't know if I just dind't tighten them good in the begining or if they worked lose that's why I loctited them.

But I still had the fact that the engine could roll more than the transmission which I was afraid was going to cause me some problems down the road. So I welded a steel strap to my engine horns and let it ride over the motor mount bolt maybe 1/8th of an inch. So now the engine can only roll just a little bit. Hopefully that will prevent me from busting my bell housing and/or my 300 adapter that acts as my transmission mount.

I'm sure there is a few other things I'll be adding to update. One thing I know will be coming soon is an incab winch controller.

Thought it was just mine, but my waterpump drops a few drops, when it sits. In your motor mount pics, looks like your is too. Traveling down the oil pan. Mine usually follows the bottom hose.
Work work work work work work,,,,,,,,,,always something!

Was wondering if anyone would notice that. I've got a cold water leak somewhere and can't seem to figure out where it's at. But as long as it's leaking out and not leaking in I'm good w/ that.
I think it's coming from behind the timing cover but I'm not tearing the whole front of the engine off for that.

Mine has done that for several years, & a couple of hoses. I've glued the bottom hose to the pump, tightened the clamp till cutting in the hose, & still gets a drip after sitting for several days. Can't see where is coming from, so I assume the pump seal. Never had to add any antifreeze/water, & not enough to wet the floor. Just enough to see. Just AMC!

Since were on the coolant leak discussion my 360 used to have the trickle and it was the lower heater hose on the side of the pump.
Their is a lot of casting flash that prevents the hose from seating good on the pump. Also the timing covers are bad to leak on amc motors.

yeah I've checked it all and cannot pin point it exactly. I'm going to try again and look but it takes about 3-4 days for one drop to hit the floor. So it has very little seepage.

Well I did something to the Jeep that I'm not 100% sure I needed to but I'm not one to push my luck especially when it may affect others I'm riding with by ruining their day cause I thought I knew better.
So it will make a few happy to know that I installed a heat sink cooler on my full hydro steering.

It was a pretty good little job but I think it turned out nice. I welded some mounts to my spreader bar to make a good secure mount and also to have some air flow from the fan to help w/ cooling. With the help of a friend I opted to use good hydraulic hose w/ crimped fittings instead of just hose and hose clamps even though it's just on the return side. It really made a nice job I thought.

All my ports are 3/8'' and larger on my orbital, resivoir, and pump. I'm hoping the 1/4'' ports on the cooler doesn't harm anything although it seems like the pump is making more noise at high RPMs now than it did before. I guess we'll see how it goes.

After getting all the air bled out of the system and completely full of fluid the steering worked just as it did before which was great.
I tried it out for a while around the house and out in the field quite a bit.

That's when I figured out and got brave enough to learn that I've got enough power to spin a circle in my Jeep. I was really suprised it would but it went around and around and around easily. I started out ringing circles in 2nd gear high but soon found out it did alot better in 4th gear low range. Suprisingly it was very stable and never once felt like it was going to tip.
I probably spent ten minutes just ringing circles and it was fun as hell. I don't know how may times I went around but I finally stopped when the temperature gauge hit 230 degrees.:D

Thanks Rodney

The engine compartment is definately full and I've not even installed my welder yet.

I bet when you seen this thing when you bought that gas tank off me you probably thought it would never be finished. Didn't you?
