The Money Pit- Lockedup5's YJ on Tons-- Updated Phase Two 2016-- 6.0 swap!!!

Here's a couple more pics of things I've done lately. Mainly just trying to make it look good now.
After wheeling it a half dozen times real hard and fixing/upgrading a couple things I feel pretty confident in the mechanics and the suspension set up now. So I've got to do something to it so she doesn't feel neglected between rides.:D

Finally redone my shifter knobs. I didn't really like the first set.

Might be hard to notice but I spiced up the holes in my hood a little. I just thought they were too plain just being holes. So I painted some brick lathe (sp?) red and rivited it to the inside of my hood hoping it would make it look not so plain.
What do you think?

Well I've been wheeling this thing a little over a year now and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I was wanting to keep up with everything about this jeep a little closer but as you can see I've dropped the ball a little bit. So I'm going to try and catch up some.

Wheeling trips, places, and times over the last year:

-The Flats- I'm guessing 15-17 times
-Leonard Farm- 3 times I think
-Windrock Park- one trip but two hard days of wheeling
-Golden Mtn. Dixie Run- one trip but two really hard days of wheeling
-Uhwarrie-one trip, maiden voyage
-Rock Corps new land- not much wheeling more just transportation.... but will be back

Carnage for the past year:

-three or so electric fan blades- $30x3
-broken right outer chromo shaft-no cost under warranty
-busted transmission case -easy fix(glued it)
-ORI strut seal went bad- rebuilt/upgraded all four at no cost
-No major body damage to speak of

Planned trips for 2015:

-The Flats-multiple
-New RC land-Multiplex2
-Gulches
-Harlan
-Dixie Run
-Windrock ?
-others ????

Knock on wood she seems to be holding up and performing pretty good for an ole garage built jeep so far. Everybody knows I take it easy on it so it should last forever. NOT!!
I think I can say the new has been worn off and I fully expect she will need some pretty heavy TLC if I can make it through this years planned wheeling trips. I'm hoping to maybe do a 6.0 swap with an automatic possibly next winter if I decide I want to break it back down. Wheeling is definately more fun than working on them I don't care what anybody says.

Well I have made every trip I planned this year except Harlan. I passed up that trip last weekend to save for the plans I have for over the winter.
I have wheeled pretty dang hard this year at quite a few extreme parks atleast monthly and I'm proud to say I've had very little carnage this year.

Carnage for the year:
-broke another fan blade( fixed permanently now)
-broke the driver side chromoly stub shaft this year
- power wire broke off coil(lost full day of wheeling)

Other than those couple things I've had an awesome year of wheeling.
Now it's winter time and that means upgrade time.

Is it finished now??? :flipoff2:
I guess if you get technical it will never be finished. There is always something new to add or fix.

So I'm just going to start calling it wheelable.

Well I was right it will never be done!!

It's getting cold weather now so I've got a few upgrades I'm going to do this winter along with @3dcrawlers help. I can't believe I'm keeping on schedule with what I had planned 2-3 years ago.
After wheeling this jeep for two years and having awesome service out of it and the AMC360/T-18 combo I'm happy and sad to say it is time to retire the ole AMC and four speed.

Out with the old and in with the new!

Upgrades planned for the winter:

-2011 L96 gen IV 6.0 w/ 88k miles from 3500 silverado (already bought for my b-day)
-Jim's Performance tune and harness
-2161 RCI fuel cell (already bought)
-Artec fuel cell hold down brackets (bought)
-TH-350 w/ 700r4 gears w/ cooler and fan
-PTC 2200-2500 stall
-350/atlas adapter
-4.3 gears to replace my 3.8 gears in my atlas. Will also need 27 spline input for atlas.
-double bypass aluminum Novak radiator
-PSC pump
-atleast new front driveshaft
-frame stiffening/cage/tube work
-new Corbeau rear suspension seat for the kids(already bought)
-Corbeau four point harnesses for the kids (already bought)
-LED lights (bought)
-possible axle gears if needed and if I do them I will also do SOLID knuckles, RCV axles to replace my chromolies, and also an ARB in my 14 bolt to replace the detroiI

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things and I'm sure I'll be adding more things too. I'm hoping to be ready to break it in by warm weather.

I also bought a new tow pig w/ sleeping quarters yesterday I'm hoping to have finished by spring also. I may start a build thread on it shortly.

I just feel the love. Y'all make fun but I guarantee you this. When its hot outside the two a/cs will keep me cool...when its cold the three heaters (inclusing LP furnace) will keep me warm and the 18' awning will keep me dry when it rains. And the 6000 watt liquid cooled Honda generator and/or 50 amp shore power will guarantee i enough power to run the six scene lights to work on the jeep when needed. And if history stays true the turbo Cummins 5.9 and Allison transmission will get me there and back.

Prue envy, nice tow rig. I'll still be hate'n on you from my tent. :flipoff2:

With that said it isn't the prettiest thing on the road. It does look like an R/V ate a taco truck that you sell tools out of. Lol
We been calling it the taco truck but it started life as a Snap-on truck. I won't get there fast but I should get there.

I'm pretty Jealous. That's an awesome tow rig! I would assume it's a 12 valve Cummins? Could easily be turned up a little and easily run 70ish and pull a hill no problem right?

Not to derail the thread but I'd like to see some more pics of the tow rig!

I am going to start a build thread on it soon and yes its a 12 valve 6bt. Hoping to turn it up some soon!!! Just more concerned with turning the jeep up right now.

Back to the jeep. My tranny is ordered . I'm going with a th350 w/ 700r4 planetary. Forward shift gears and will have compression brake. Should have it the week of Christmas .

Santa in the brown truck visited today!
He delivered my reworked Jim's Performance harness and computer.
I also got a big box from summit that included my fuel pump, fuel filter, misc fuel system AN fittings, and my f-body oil pan with windage tray wit accessories.
I will be ordering a griffin radiator/fan combo tomorrow and that will take care of all my main parts except my tranny cooler.
Any one have any recommendations on tranny coolers with a fan?

Oh I also painted my Artec fuel cell brackets to match my paint scheme. They turned out pretty good.
