The Money Pit- Lockedup5's YJ on Tons-- Updated Phase Two 2016-- 6.0 swap!!!

Is your tank one of the double welded(actually using filler rod)? I saw Mike Houstons and it is, and looked really good. I also think a lot of what was causing failures in these tanks was the thin metal + the fusion without filler rod+ the weight of the fuel flexing the thin ass metal= failure. The mounts shown will help in aiding the amount of flex.

Did you call them and get the inner-lined tank? I also think baffles can go a long way in preventing cracks.

This is the 2161 tank. It does look like it has nice filled welds. If I have trouble I guess I'll go with the lined tank but the way we connected the mounts we don't think I'll have any problems. Guess we will see.

the new cell i ordered was 1 of the double welded. u can tell the difference in the 2 cells. guess i will get a set of those brackets. I have a new Business project im working on, so who knows when i can get back to fixing the rig

UPS and FedEx drivers know my address by heart. You'd think I'd be done ordering crap by now. You know you getting close to the end when you order the cold air intake.

UPS rolled up today with a big box and I had no clue what it was. Turned out the company I bought my engine from sent me an engine cover to make my engine complete just out of the blue.
They told me if they found me one they would get it to me. That is a stand up company!!!! Didn't even call and ask me for shipping.
This thing looked brand new.

I wanted a cover bad just cause I think it makes the engine look complete.

Getting closer! David got the shifter mounted in the shifter console I built and mounted to the main console.

He also got the tranny cooler and radiator mounted in the grill. I believe it's ready to put the front end back on.

We also have my power steering lines figured out. We had to make one and modify another and should work out great!

Hoping to hear this thing fire up this week.

Going back together!!!

Things are tight but we kind figured it that way. We didn't really want to have to build another cross bar. Everything is really working out great. I will say again David is doing a phenomenal job.

Awesome. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the engine cover is a must for an LS swap. I think it adds to the wow factor when you open the hood. Not to mention it's good for at least 20HP!!

I'm a little upset at FedEx. They set these two fairly expensive boxes on my sidewalk just in front of the porch and I didn't even get an email confirmation to let me know they were delivered. Good thing I was home. Smh.
At least they could set them on the porch.

What did you use to get the Atlas so clean?

Got a couple new goodies to add to the parts list today. Guess these will actually fall into the upgrade catagory. I guess everything Im doing is just upgrades though.

I figured breaking two chromoly axles shafts with <180 HP in the ole amc 360 I may as well upgrade axles considering I will be more than doubling my HP. So I broke down and ordered me a set of RCVs!!! Hopefully these won't break as easy.

Although I've never had a problem from my existing links which are 2" 7075 aluminum and 7/8" heims I've always been very cautious. I'm kinda tired of being cautious so I figured I'd upgrade a little. I've had a set of 1-1/4" heims for a while trying to decide whether to retap the two inch aluminum or go bigger.
I decided to go bigger! Got my link stock today. 2-1/4" 7075. Just need to figure my length and get them drilled and tapped.

its like my old boss said. once i cracked open that old sealed shut crusty wallet ...... i just let the $$$$$ flow. lol.
That was the week i bought my new F250 and a few other exspensive toys
when i get back in town i will post a pic of the alum cleaner i use. I buy it at a mobile home supply place off of i 40. not sure but seems its called Hawkeye brite. it smells like eggs. been using it for yrs. used to get it at the ol flea market

well atleast buying new axles.... that is, if you got 300m.
I was going 300m but talked to RCV and they told me to not waste my money based on the recreational wheeling I do. That's a stand-up company to say that. It's the same warranty so they must be pretty confident in their product. They said they very rarely get an inner back.
I do have 300m outers though.

I think it will be ready by Saturday to fire. David is being very particular about Everything. Which is great. He says he's not sacrificing quality to appease a time line. And that's fine for me. I appreciate him doing that.
As for the 20hp part it's going to have to be modified a little on the intake side and it will be in there.
