The quest for 30 more danas

So i ran into a small possible problem.... kinda....
so when i first opened up the axle covers they were dry, with fresh setup paint on the gears and grease on everything. like they had just been rebuild but someone knew it would be a while so sealed them up with a thin layer of grease on everything instead of filling it full of gear oil.

Transmission looked pretty clean but didnt think anything of it cause it had been on a pallet wrapped up. well took it off the motor and it and torque converter were dry, but had assembly lube on them. so im going to assume both were rebuilt, the guys helping me also think the trans was rebuilt and not been ran yet.

so here lies the problem is there a way i can tell if it is standard shift pattern or reverse pattern before i order a new shifter?
Any salvage yard, worth its salt, that sells take outs, will drain all fluids before it leaves. Part of their guarantee; they won't send it out with old fluid for fear of it not being serviced by the new owner...and then returned saying its junk...

I say it was rebuilt because it also had a transmission shop sticker on top of the bell housing.

Either way is there a way to confirm the shift pattern before I order a shifter

Probably not, unless you can get in touch with the builder and see their work order.

Most of the time reverse shift patterns are only desired for off road use of hot rods. I’d say it’s a very slim chance it has a reverse shift pattern if it’s been rebuilt in the last few thousand miles.

Nothing really picture worth. Messed with the jeep last weekend and decided we need to move the rear mounts forward to
Shorten the wheel base so waiting on some parts from barnes4wd. Pulled the 60 in the garage and started getting the truss put on and removed the high steer spacers. Going to have to order some arp studs then I’ll finish up the front end and then on to the rear.

Where is progress?

No real progress and probably won’t be much till after Christmas.

Helping one friend finish his house up after selling his house and another move after his sold so no real progress

Still waiting on some back ordered stuff from Barnes, all my gauges wiring lights Should be here end of the week. Need to get a different shifter and another shifter cable for the doubler.

Should get tubing and sheet metal right before or after Christmas.

Then I’ll be down to shocks driveshafts and exhaust for big items

Suppose to help a friend on his house today but he was sick so I worked on the jeep for a bit. Got the front axle truss welded up new king pin bushings in and high steer arms back on, and diff cover on. Need to get the ram mounting figured out and the front axles is ready to get the link mounts figured out and welded up

I just make sure there's plenty of dirt or grinding dust on the floor when I paint, that way you can just sweep up the overspray and it's like it was never there.

Not all of us are pro's... some of us just like to get shit done.....
ya didnt get much done but make a mess.... didnt think 6 degrees and paint dont work well. even in the garage at 50 it took two days for the links to dry.... but damn they are looking.... decent but the whole buggy will look good once its painted

ya well it was on the wall, door, tires, welder, heater, toolbox, brand new drive slugs, tools, pretty well everywhere i should have thought to cover up

lol well at least your making headway

Finally making a little progress. Got the truss finished ram mounted everything painted. I repacked the bearing changed rotors and axle shaft on the short side tonight chromoly shafts with super joints went in, dang parts house gave me the wrong pads so will finish other side and put pads on tomorrow. I’m trying to do everything I can so once I weld the axle mounts on I don’t have to mess with the axle again. Brake lines will also be ran when I pull the axle out for final welding on the mounts

And yes I’m going to run the ram in single shear right now but no it’s not done I’m waiting on some spacers from Barnes
