Any salvage yard, worth its salt, that sells take outs, will drain all fluids before it leaves. Part of their guarantee; they won't send it out with old fluid for fear of it not being serviced by the new owner...and then returned saying its junk...So i ran into a small possible problem.... kinda....
so when i first opened up the axle covers they were dry, with fresh setup paint on the gears and grease on everything. like they had just been rebuild but someone knew it would be a while so sealed them up with a thin layer of grease on everything instead of filling it full of gear oil.
Transmission looked pretty clean but didnt think anything of it cause it had been on a pallet wrapped up. well took it off the motor and it and torque converter were dry, but had assembly lube on them. so im going to assume both were rebuilt, the guys helping me also think the trans was rebuilt and not been ran yet.
so here lies the problem is there a way i can tell if it is standard shift pattern or reverse pattern before i order a new shifter?
