What have you done to your rig today?

That's why I'm asking. At the last CTB ride, National Transmission was given to us but sadly, the guy who used to do them retired and they don't touch them anymore.

Two new Bilsteins on the back, new water pump and hoses, and some more shine juice. Before and after juicing:

More Super10 stuff. Managed 20.5 mpg on the way to SC and 22.25 on the way back. Not terrible running 75 mph with a 4 speed...something like 3100 rpm.

Also, as it turns out, I actually AM smarter than a rudimentary, 37 year old OBD 1 system :D

Whipped out a trusty old paper clip and did the code flash deal. Had 6 codes two weeks ago and pulled the ECM fuse to reset it. Drove back home, checked again, and only had two.

35 - IAC problem/idle error
44 - O2, lean condition

So, I figured I'd throw an O2 sensor at it. Boom, problem solved. I figure it's gotta get better mileage too. I also unhooked the warm-up valve in the intake. I realized it was sucking it open and only sucking air through the hole where the heat riser pipe would have been. Between those two things, it runs and idles like a brand new one! The check engine light hasn't come on a single time while driving. It even feels like it could pull a greasy string out of a cat's ass! It's almost as faster as the speed of smell now.

Naturally, after sitting for several years, the clutch master and slave started leaking after I drove it some. So it got new ones today. Another 75 bucks between the O2, master, and slave. She's good to go now!

I think I need to bleed it one or two more times, but as I've done in the past...I replaced and bled everything by myself. Hard to push the clutch pedal and crack the bleeder at the same time with a bad right shoulder.

If this thing keeps running better, I may never LS swap it. A 5 speed though...damn, that'd be nice!

@Mulishajoe had a super busy weekend getting the Sami ready for our trip next weekend to GER. They're calling for snow in the forecast & we didn't want to freeze. Got the gears changed, switched windshield frames to one with glass, put targa bar & doors on, then added a new bikini top. He also did some kind of switch thingy so the heat works now too.

Snacks is important! Can't have anybody getting hangry out in the middle of the woods :D

Lots of work today. Replaced both exhaust manifolds. Passenger side was cracked and I also found several of the bolts loose. It looks like the PO attempted (very poorly) to repair it. There was some red stuff on the crack and attempting to seal with the gasket. And some of the bolts were mismatched.

Also replaced plugs and wires. I have no idea how long the current ones were in it but figured it can't hurt.

Last, I upgraded the brakes to PowerStop Z36 drilled and slotted all around. My day was going perfectly until I found they sent the wrong rear pads. Oops. Luckily they're overnighting replacements.

So now my jeep sits like this. Does this mean I'm finally an official web wheeler and part of the in crowd here?

They making you return the 0785 pads? If not, I'd be interested in them

Well, what started as a one day project to replace exhaust manifolds as well as pads and rotors has snowballed. I really should stop paying attention to things. I was happier when I was blissfully ignorant.

Noticed ball joints had play. So ordered some Teraflex HD ball joints.

Also noticed that I had a parking brake shoe that was sticking and constantly rubbing the drum no matter how much I adjusted it.

Then I noticed that the rear axle shaft felt funny when I turned it.

My one day job turned into a whole ordeal. New ball joints, rebuilt parking brakes. All four axle shafts out of the jeep and now I'll be getting new bearings and seals on the rear. Maybe when this is all done I can stop spending money for a while. Ah, who am I kidding?

I ordered a TPS for the Super10 and got rid of some unnecessary vacuum lines to clean stuff up. Don't need lines for the heat up valve or EGR. The MAP sensor definitely works, which is good, as that will be the only sensor I haven't replaced.

I think exhaust is next. Going to cut the flange off the exhaust manifold and run a 2.5" pipe, new cat, and new muffler. Still trying to figure out what muffler. I want to to be fairly quiet and not sound like a ricer.

Lucky for me, I found some two pairs of 2.5" v flanges and clamps sitting in the shop. Probably too fancy for this application, but it doesn't cost me anything.

After that, I'll do the steering. I can get all the components for 145 bucks on Rock Auto. :D

Drove the CJ to work on Friday (150 mile round trip). Did fine, very enjoyable actually, not great mileage at 65mph but whatever. Went around town yesterday with my son and pulled into a store parking lot, little rough and something fell off...

Apparently the back half of the lower left rear leaf spring abandoned ship. So I looked over the remaining two complete leaves on that side (xj rear packs that have been "dialed in" with a mixture of other leaves). All looked good so we drove it home.

Dropped the rear 14bolt and switched out the bad leaf and replaced it's twin on the other side too. Took about an hour, less the time for the required test drive / victory lap around the neighborhood and through all the "good" ditches to validate we didn't loose any of our amazing articulation.

Old jeeps rule

Changed the TPS yesterday and drove it some. All is well once again!

Id say a turbo muffler. Most of them flow fairly well, and are quite. A straight through muffler will flow better, but i suspect the 4cly likes a little backpressure.

I found some write up a dude did on an S10 forum. He said it doesn't care about backpressure, really. Which makes sense, it's only got slightly more power than the Briggs on my lawnmower. I definitely don't want it to be annoying. Now that it's running really well, you can barely hear it. It's weird!

X2. I really wanted to switch to trail gear studless hubs but don't want to give up my ifs hubs. I wish they would make one in ifs offset.
Wonder if there is a bearing set that would allow D44 hubs on yota spindles? I have a d44 spindle here, if you have a yota one, we can compare to.

Started this project today. But running solo on it kinda sucks, can’t lift bumper into place properly and line it up. So here it rests, hoping my brother can ride down to give a hand….the floor Jack didn’t help any except to serve as a drink holder

After being rained out yesterday, I was able to get back at it today. Finally got the brackets all in the right place and bumper fully mounted. I enlisted the help of my engine hoist to help get the winch plate adjusted, I also destroyed a bolt, that’s kind of my specialty. This bumper was damaged during the shipping process, I bought it this way so I was well aware, but I’m still happy with how it turned out

I had new BDS springs installed a couple weeks back, & had shocks on order. Just been putting off installing them, until Saturday. Going in Monday for back surgery, & won't be doing anything like this for 2 months, so I Had to get it done. Also swapped my spare for a front tire. Guess my tires have gotten to damn heavy, to lift, so out came the cherry picker!

Good luck with your back surgery!
