What have you done to your rig today?

The most voodoo crap I ever had with an auto was my ‘97 ZJ lmtd. Trans would lock and unlock O/D sometime even upshift. Couldn’t figure it out and no codes. Fluid was great. Took it in and everything g checked the block at the trans shop. Did a filter and fluid. No change. Pulled the trans and rebuilt with new converter, no change. Come to find out after going to the bottom of the interweb rabbit hole I found out it was the brake light switch cause that also signals the trans that “we’re braking, drop out of converter lockup”. Basically any jiggle of the vehicle, and thus, the brake pedal in a certain way would cause the issue and make the trans freak out. New switch, no more problems after a total crap show.

I was hoping replacing my brake switch would alleviate the no OD issue, swapped it out before I pulled my camper to Myrtle Beach last spring but no dice. Definitely made the drive a little bit of a struggle when the truck sounds like a hit-and-miss John Deere tractor at speeds above 50.

Dragged it down to the shop to start prepping it for the next trip.

Pads, calipers, and rotors on the daily Taco. It’s an 05 and looked to be original equipment. The calipers looked like they’d been sitting on a shelf on the titanic and the rotors weren’t any better. The pads were pretty much welded to the pistons. I’ve owned the truck for about a year. Should have dug into it sooner, but it stopped so I rolled with it. Lately It started shaking like hell every time I touched the brakes. Figured it was time. Glad I did it. She’s smooth now.

To the Gladiator. I took advantage of the 25% off coupon from Harbor Freight and picked up an Apex 12K winch with synthetic line, added a 500A continuous duty solenoid and a Factor 55 Flatlink I had won in at Dixie Run last year, installed it today.

Glad someone else is on the same maintenance schedule I am. Breaks my heart to see folks throwing away brakes, oil, filters, etc, with 1/5 life left in them. Down right wasteful.

Replaced the sucky stock lights with some nice aftermarkets on the daily driver.

Got some replacement fog lights too, but I can't fit under the truck to swap them. Gotta borrow some ramps this weekend. (OR prioritize that lift kit..... hmmmm....)

And I love checking reviews on a product and seeing all these B.S. "20 minute install!" remarks... then it taking me an hour and a half and a couple quick Youtube videos...

Ram headlights are not an easy first time install with all the clips and doo-dabbys to get the housing out.
