What have you done to your rig today?

Did a thorough pre trip inspection. By that I mean the tires have air, spares and tool bag are accounted and most importantly, I have a proper coozie affixed to the shifter.

Tried to be proactive because my battery was starting to seem very weak cranking. So I went to autozone and bought a new battery even though the lady told me mine was fine but couldnt test the crank amps.
Well got back to my house went to change my battery and found my terminal was cracked. So that's going to get replaced tomorrow after I pick up one tonight.
Cant find date on the battery that was in the jeep but it came in it when I bought the jeep used.

Looks like a Lot of Pliers & Vice Grips, have been used!:shaking:

Not a wheeling rig but this weekend I made a conversion bracket to put a stronger style center bearing from a Ford Ranger on Dad's old 67 c10. I also started putting together an electric power steering setup from a Prius into my 67 Fairlane. I'm tired of fighting leaks from the antique ram assist power setup.

My dads 69 Fairlane leaks from the same place. I’ve tightened everything down as snug as I can get it without breaking something. It’s a small leak but annoying nonetheless.

Yes the ram had to be replaced and it leaked for a year. Then on the Power Tour it started wandering, I found the control valve worn. The new one is leaking around the ball stud. It's such a bitch to replace I'm just going to eliminate it all.

Got to working on the rear axle from where I ripped the track bar/upper control arm at Harlan. After @77GreenMachine and @adamk convinced me into the pulling the axle to weld the new bracket on. Which turned into cutting all the unused brackets off, welding the tubes, boxing in the lower mounts, and clearancing the coil buckets for the shocks to clear.

Quote of the night from @77GreenMachine "it's clean enough to get an arc" lets just say some of his weld prep was less than ideal.

By first glance it looks like it can tear off again. I would brace it a bit more since this is your only upper link and trac bar bracket.

It'll tear the tube apart before that bracket comes off. I looked at trying to brace it but there wasn't a quick and easy way to do so with the brake line in the way.

Put a triangle gusset coming up the outer back side of the track bar mount.. looks like you can gain about 2" going towards the spring and 3 towards the center section. Will give much more lateral strength.

The picture is deceiving. There is only about 1/2" between the link mount/coil bucket, and about 2" between the center and link mount.

Re route the brake line splitter to the passenger side. Is that possible or would that be too close to the exhaust?

Just run a triangle plate from the middle of the mount at the bend down to the side of the tube, make the bottom as wide as possible with the room you have. It's ok to have a gap, as long as the top and bottom can be welded well. 1/4" plate.

Finally decided to bolt the seats down so the kids weren’t flopping all over the place since their harnesses were still shortened up with a series of half hitches...

Decided to pull the harnesses to take them to the local upholstery shop to have them shortened and re-sewn.

Plumbed up the heater for the cool days of the fall. :)

Gettin ready for the fall riding season. If my buggy will ever get finished. Otherwise I’m stuck to riding a mt bike while the kids have all the fun...

Started prepping my rig for the Dixie Run today. Pulled out the seats and tool box for a good cleaning on the interior, fixed 2 remotes for the 8274 and drank a lot of beer.
A new amp and led lights are ready to install. The LS1 is slicked up and ready to roar.
Today was a good day...

Spent the last three nights of last week after work cleaning the turbo on dads tow rig. God duramaxs are a pain to get the turbo off of compared to a powerstroke. His was throwing a code for vane position not learned. The unison ring was so rusted I had to pry it off.

Then I spent the weekend making a steering column from scratch mostly for my electric power steering on my fairlane.

And yes, the new column is made from exhaust pipe. I decided that I didn't like the visible seam or smaller diameter of the stock blue Chevy column I got, but it still gave up some of its parts for the greater good, lol.

I see you have and use the best pen oil I've ever used... AeroKroil. Column looks good. That had to been time consuming to fab all that with that attention to detail. Duramax turbos definitely bring the suck to r&r.
