What's so wrong with Cooper? Soft compound? I actually liked my Chinese street tires I out on my xj one time. They were sticking to my hands mounting them. Lasted maybe 40k but they would never squeal and had awesome traction on asphalt (where my vehicles typically spend 99% of their time)

+1 So far the Coopers have proven to be the best AT tire for the exploder, and the STT pro one of the best offroad tires I've ever had

I've got Cooper ST Maxx on my HD and the old STTs on my other SAS truck. I freaking love Coopers. They make a LOT of tires under other names...big, well known, names too.

Boy am I glad I listened to you. My tire was making sweet love to the shock when I stuffed it in the fender.
Didn't finish but I got started on making room for the shock hoop to move in.

I just have never been a big fan of cooper tires. Had a few bad experiences with them way back when, and swore I never would own another set.

The tires i ordered are the dick cepek extreme country. A few people I know around here swear by them for anything but sticky mud, guess I will find out.....

As long as my DD counts, I resealed the back window... And because it used to leak when it rains, it will not rain in the next few days forcing me to fix one of my off-road rigs......

.. the lawn mower. Edit: is now pouring. I guess that's because I assumed that me fixing the leaky rear window would make it not rain. Oh well. Now I can put off fixing one of my off road machines. In good news .The rear window doesn't leak now. I guess it was worth the $2x spent on a roll of the butyl tape.. and Amazon wasn't much cheaper than advance. Less than $5 difference.

MasterCraft, Cooper, Mickey Thompson, and Dick Cepek are the first ones that come to mind. I believe they used to make ProComp, but I'm not sure if they still do.

Actually, since it rained after you fixed it, that means it's still leaking :D

It did rain, but not inside the truck at least.

Tore the front driveshaft apart, was definitely in need of a service. Centering ball was close to locking up.

Progress is being made. Losing track of what day some of these were taken.

Got the transmission mounted and adjusted in place...didnt take phone under car. So this is what ya get.
    20190315_162113.jpg

Got the new master cylinder in and the pedal set. This is a really trick piece. Has a built in adjustable proportioning valve to eliminate one line connection. I did a shity job of getting a pic of said valve...it on the right hand side. Current rear brakes are drum...future plans call for disc. This will allow the swap to be done on my timeline

I hate hydraulic clutches because Im a dinosaur and ....but my knee problems make standing on a manual triple disk a bear so cable it is. This photo shows a better angle of the cable routing. Its heat shielded from under the oil filter back in 3 layers of nomex/kevlar/then hard barrier so it should survive despite being cozy with the header. Final hold backs arent on the shock tower yet but they are coming.

    20190315_162057.jpg

Finally the engine has too many unplugged holes in to. So I fixed some of that. The carb was supposed to be classic bronze but it came in wrong. It may go back still but it's growing on me.

We have outworked the supply house. Got to finish my hard fuel lines underneath and their brake line friends. They are all bent just need final mounting.

Will start throwing interior back together this week. I am really really pleased with the American Powertrain TKO600 conversion pieces. Shifter fell perfectly in line in stock location without hacking the tunnel. Conversion x-member lined up perfectly with stock holes...it was almost too easy.

In the drag race world it’s “run what ya brung”. I’m sure the same phrase can apply here too. In this case, it’s not how heavy, but how high we had to reach.

Strongly considered it. Came close actually.
Ultimately this build, this car because of the history of it and the overall theme went old school carb, mechanical fuel pump.

I am not a fan of the fitech or holley sniper style engine bay mounted ecms due to past issues so if I did it I'd be going with the terminator stealth or similar and getting the ecm in cab.

But this car has a weird combination of restomod.

Fwiw this engine specs out slightly higher than an ls7.
Less than half the price. Lighter and smaller.

It's a beast on paper...I'll let you know "soon" how it is on pavement.
