Winter coming?

If this goes down, I'm gonna be that guy that everyone wonders how dafuq they can be so ill prepared. At first didn't believe it, rigs are in storage, semi-torn down, grocery stores are actively emptying, loaned out my portable generator during the hurricanes, but can't remember to who. So I'll be grilling half thawed tater tots over my natural gas fire place by cell phone light.

I've learned that I apparently eat totally different things than most of the population, because the stores don't empty out of the things we buy. If I ate Kraft mac and cheese, we'd be totally fucked. This is also the reason that I can't buy most of our groceries at WalMart; they only carry the most popular things, and that's not what we eat.

I’d imagine though, if you shop at a niche store for niche product, it still has enough customers to keep the doors open, and those customers still bum rush the niche store to stock up on said niche product. When I lived in Edenton and we were all organic/homeopathic...we grocery shopped at a store called the soho market, and when ‘weather’ be it hurricanes or light dustings occurred...they weren’t immune to the ‘Walmart affect’. Salisbury has a shop called Simply Good, same deal happens there too.

I just had a repair ticket for a lady that her internet has been out for about a week. Where she lives she has no service on a cell phone without internet so she’s been living under a rock the last week and totally in the dark about the snow storm. Once I fixed her service and she looked at the news I thought she was going to have a stroke. This lady moved from south Florida to the top of a mountain just outside of Asheville. She asked what she should do and I said move back.

Looks like I'll be loading the Jeep down with camping gear and the boat behind it taking a ride.
There's few things in the world cooler blasting up and down frozen rivers camping in the snow.

Chains, firewood, generator fuel, groceries and were good they saying we’re gonna Benin the 20” range as of yesterday! Stay safe everyone! I’ll be out making money if shops closed shoveling snow hopefully I can make bank quick staying out sun and Monday and sleeping in truck for few hours in between 2014 made 3200 in 3 days with 22” of snow after fuel, salt I profited $2750 I hand shovel too by myself...Easy fast money especially on weekdays bc ppl gotta get to work regardless apparently! I pull cars out for free and get tipped usually unless college kids bc they broke! FYI suburbans are gods winter tank of luxurious awesomeness if y’all didn’t know I just hope my trans and rear hold up for this winter I didn’t get to fix trans like I planned...

All the people that bought property on the top of the mountain around my parents house are from Florida. They all leave for a week or wreck, and then think it’s my dad and mine job to come pull them out for free. And they don’t understand why me and him take the time to plow from his house to the main road as soon as it gets 4”+ on it.

We were suppose to only get less than an inch and we got 2 and everything iced over last night up here in banner elk. Jeep is fueled up and ready to go.

Pic is from yesterday before in snowed more.

Shit doesn't slow me down. I still go to work.
Our club is doing Uwharrie this weekend. I wish the snow was gonna hit on Saturday, but it looks like we will miss it . :(

Go on Sunday instead. I wish I could go.

Well, I'll be getting the local grader ready....got a busted hydraulic tank! I love events that get people hustling.

We are actively prepping here at work for it. Trucks loaded up and brining operations begin at 8pm tonight for most of Mecklenburg county/Monroe Expressway. Im going hunting all day Saturday and will probably be back at work on Sunday morning watching the traffic...

I'm right down the road in Foscoe, somehow we ended up getting 4 inches instead of the dusting I was expecting.
I usually take these big forecasts with a grain of salt, but am old enough to remember 93 very well. 6 days of shoveling to get out of my parents place.......

I'm up in Mooresville today, and they appear to have brined here already. I think most is probably going to wash away with all the Saturday rain before it actually snows.

Skiing tomorrow. Getting hammered and watching it snow on Saturday at our friends house. Going to the inlaws on Sunday morning to help out and hunt. Expecting 12-18" there between both days. Cant remember where the loader bucket for the tractor is, skid steer is down needing a starter so I guess the dozer will have to do  Still calling for 8-12" of a wintry mix here in the Triangle. That is a total crap shoot.

Ecu fried in my beater tracker the other day so now it’s guaranteed to be a blizzard here. Oh well. I’ve got plenty of firewood and big windows to watch it snow through.

Nothing Easy about the money you are making, I say honest for sure. And you are right about the Suburbans. I have a 99 that goes like a tank. It is my snow ride. It has a limited slip rear. I upgraded from the weenie 10 bolt to a semi float 14 bolt several years ago, but it also had a limited slip.
My hats off to you for willingness to work like that. Back in my younger days, I hopped on my dads Farmall tractor and scrapped, where I couldn't scrape, I shoveled. I'm 56 now, I remember making about $2400 in lil over 26 hours, non stop except to com home and get some dry cloths on. I'd dump out my money and head back out. Mom would organize it all nice and neat in a old cigar box. WOW, to be young again with the body to be able to do that. Yes it was work, but, one of my fondest memories.
