Square cage...here it is

Tomorrow I hope to wake up and realize that this was all a Twilight Zone episode.

I'm going to re-title this thread to "Another day, another missed opportunity to add a triangle", or "How to add a little strength by adding a lot of weight".

What was the reasoning on not cross bracing the roof section? You could have easily run X's between your already established horizontal pieces and it would have made it a lot stronger. How's the visibility out of the front?
Oh oops, I never thought about that. Well even if I did, probably wouldn't have since I'm short on time before the weekend and just wanted to get those big open spaces fixed.
Visibility?..its annoying for sure but I knew something had to be done to brace that front.
And heavy?? Yeah I'm very curious to find out how much it weighs. Its never bothered me that much and at times I'm sure it helps in some scenarios keeping tires planted, hurts in others but if I wanted a light rig I'd build a Sami :D

It's going to need a 5.9 Cummins in it to pull all the weight. But 1/4 wall DOM will keep ya safe. Lol
Funny cause I wanted 3 pieces of 55" tubing from our scrap pile at work..we had some 2" HREW, 2" .120DOM, and 2" 1/4wall DOM. I was gonna get 5 pieces of the hrew stuff (lots of those) but boss man says take those 3beefy pieces (what we callem at work) and call it good lol.

I dunno get creative
Well you spoke too soon LMBO HAHAHA..
(That moment when you don't have any "orange" paint to touch up but your new addition of roll bars need to be painted and all you have is black...and your favorite animal is a tiger...and the jeep is orange, hmmmm
Orange Jeep + black spray paint + favorite animal === oh boy I done did it now LOL LOL)
I like it, ready for Safari!! Definitely gotta make a phat grille for it now @C.Berry

It was literally drawn out for you a couple pages ago. You haven't added much strength to the roof just by adding more horizontal pieces, all you have added is more unsprung weight. You could have easily shortened the windshield bars and made them more vertical to increase visibility as well. Looks like you need to trim some u-bolts as well on the front axle.

@Blaze in all fairness those are usually the best ones to ride tho!! Lol I see a v8 in fullers near future to get up to carnival ride speeds tho!!

You trying to get Frosted Flakes to put that on the box?? lol def not gonna miss that on the trails!

Don't give him ideas like that... lol

There's certain things I can look at and tell I'm getting older. Stuff (I reserve the word "shit" to be used at a later date) like this just has me shaking my head and speechless.

John, can you explain why you chose to put the windshield /\ bars going that way instead of the other, like this \/

I just want the video of this driving off a cliff to show how safe the cage is.....

If safe then build another one. Let this be the experimental cliff jeep. You know every car goes through a crash test before production.

Forgive my ignorance here, I was off NC4x4 for a couple of years so i might have missed it but is this guy for real? this cant be serious right?
You clearly have indeed been missing out.
Go search for his other threads.

Just take some 1/8” plate, and plate the entire roof.

Make sure to perforate it where it meets all the tubing, so you can then plug weld it all to all the tubing.

Then boom, no triangles needed, it’s just like how houses are built. Hell you could just run more self tapping screws everywhere to hold the plate to the tubing.

You could also do the same behind the front seats to replace triangulation in the vertical plane.

I refuse to add pertinent real tech that will be ignore, so now I add semi-serious genius level alternative tech.

Our words won’t matter any way

You could instead just use Plexiglass, and maintain the "open ceiling" effect...
