After a hard azz day at work,

I liked that comment just to be the first to. A 6 pack of good beer and two hours of Pandora premium ($9.99 a month WELL spent) is the shit. I've noticed with animals that they actually develop a taste in certain music. Have you noticed? It's like matching beer for beer with your best friend, but dogs don't drink. :D

I like the spotify premium, so i can download music to play when i'm out on the lake with limited signal. As far as the dogs go one is a 3 year old boxer and the other is a 7 month old golden, so they are more worried about playing right now. Until you really wear them out.

You can do the same thing with Pandora on your phone.

I wasn't aware I haven't used pandora in a while, at the time i thought Pandora did a better job predicting music with their stations. but i liked the playlist you could create on spotify. When did pandora start letting you create playlist?

Pandora premium lets you download the music to your phone, I still haven't figured out how to make my playlists work "offline" for some reason. Usually I just hit the shuffle or start at the beginning when I'm offline listening to music. I honestly can't remember when they started doing it, I've always had a subscription so I could listen to it when driving rather than the radio.

Pandora premium is my s**t. So worth the $$

After 12.5hrs at work I get about 2-2.5hrs to eat, watch some YouTube videos of my hobbies or our next destination before I shower and go to bed.

How do you not pay power/water/sewer/phone/insurance?

Perhaps saying “no other bills” is a poor choice of words. Obviously I have those bills. Those are necessary bills. I have no car payments, credit cards, student loans, or anything like that.

I have a coworker that on social media and at a glance of his life you’d think he was killing it. In reality he has 3 car payments, a massive mortgage, a lawn mower payment, a SXS payment, credit card payment, and his wife has student loans. He’s barley getting by, and wants to change but says he can’t help it, and has his whole life to make payments. Sad truth is that is how 90% of Americans are living today.

On the flip side, I’m just like @XJsavage said. I drive older high mileage vehicles, budget for nearly everything, and on social media or a glance at my life most would assume I’m barley getting by lol.

I’ve thought seriously about teaching a financial peace class sometime, and I try my best to encourage young people not to go into debt for things they don’t NEED. I learned it all the hard way, people tried to tell me but I didn’t listen.

a lawn mower payment.
o_O

A guy that use to work in our office had one of those. Until then I really had never heard of someone outside of owning a landscaping company HAVING a lawn mower payment. Of course he had a SxS payment, 2 motorcycle payments, 3 car payments.....ANYWAY, he came in bragging that he had just purchased the only Zero turn mower that has a suspension and it cost him $6500

Usually 2 kinds of braggers when it comes to paying for something

  1. I paid a butt-ton of money for it: Meaning you can't possibly afford something like this, and they're PROUD of the amount they paid
  2. You wouldn't BELIEVE how little I paid for this: Meaning I'm very likely going to lie to you about how much I paid so you won't think I'm an idiot

He would fit into category #1

In later conversations he would also mention that his wife had 3 different student loans from 3 different career choices that she found out after starting work she hated: Dental hygienist, Mortician (this one cost the most) and some other medical field. But all the various payments were adding up to more than he and his wife made, so instead of SELLING anything, he had to make more money. The boss didn't agree. Hence why he USE to work in our office. He went into contracting in an attempt to make more money for his payments.

Given our history, what do you think if it’s ME telling you this? :D

What was that nick name you had for me? Lol

I never have to doubt the validity of what you tell me you paid  Ya cheap bastard!

Man, I have been thinking about this. Lately the wife and I have been spending our weekends at home with LO and not going out and being outside listening to Pandora a lot and I always hate when I run out of skips!
That and a top-of-the-line Bluetooth speaker that's waterproof, and it's pure happiness wherever you go. I take it on camping trips, kayaking trips and even bring it to work when I'm by myself. Keeps the brain working correctly. :)

For everyone that feels “bound” by bills and such and you have to make a certain amount of money to live on, keep in mind there is a way out!

I don’t bring this up to brag, but to encourage everyone! I don’t have any bills other than my mortgage, at only 30 years old. My wife was able to quit her job as a CPA at a large tax firm last year, and we have more family time than ever. The rewards of the lifestyle I live now vs the 3.5 years of sacrifice I made to get debt free have been worth it all!

Don’t strap yourself down with payments you don’t have to have! Link below to my story of debt pay off!

**updated**-Dave Ramsey anyone?

I've said it before, I'll say it again...the Dave Ramsey approach is nice one size fits all financial approach. It does, in fact, make logical sense...but to me, it's like weight watchers 'duh, that makes sense...portion control/reducing calories helps lose weight', and just makes folks more cognizant of the obvious. However, not all credit/debt is bad...and with interest rates where they've been the last few years, if your credit score is over 750, it's essentially free money.

Agreed. It’s just a “one size fits all” plan for people that are in too deep to get on the right path to financial freedom.

Don't get me wrong...there was a time in my life when I did the Dave Ramsey snowball as well, I still have the spreadsheet somewhere, shortly after I got out of school I some how amassed 19 different lines of credit. Today though, if you ask me if that'll be cash or charge...and my finance option is under 4%...ya damn skippy I'll do the quick math to determine net impacts.

Ain't it a bitch that when you NEED money you can't get anyone to lend you money, but when you HAVE money, everyone wants to give it to you for little or NO interest.

I've been in both places and it just blows my mind every time. If anyone is offering zero interest, be it a car, an appliance, or security system components, you dang skippy I'm using their money while mine earns interest!!

I hate streaming services.... I prefer the CD, Radio, iPod or Vinyl. Here is why... What Streaming Music Services Pay (Updated for 2019)
I still buy CDs. I don't put in a single order on Amazon without tossing in 3-6 CDs on top of it. Same with vinyl. Between me and my dad, our collection is valued at ~$lol. The way I am, if I can play CD/Vinyl, I do. Other times, it's Pandora. I love to think that my favorite artists are making some profit rather than nothing.

Just bought my wife an expedition 3 months ago...and I'm eyeballing a new Lincoln Continental for myself...it's almost embarrassing what they're willing to throw at you (and discount). But, 10 years ago me almost didn't graduate college because I couldn't secure $6,000 for my final class/books. 8 year ago me almost didn't get to buy a house because my debt to income ratio was literally $100 off. 5 year ago me couldn't refinance a couple things because I was a credit risk, note, I was already paying at a higher rate within that same institution. It's an enigma wrapped in a mystery.

Shifting gears, (maybe back to the original topic), "money is the root of all good toys", since I don't have a lot to throw around and my personal builds take years.
Sometimes a hot shower and a cold beer.

This seems some what fitting. Usually after a shit (normal) day at work, I like to go home and tend to the chickens, ducks, and such.

However today has been a little bit different.

I got off work this morning at 7 after a 12 hr shift with my first full 3 days off in a long time. You gotta make the most of it so I went home, took a shower, put some shorts on, and went to help the ol'lady at work. She got off at 2, we ate a little truck stop/buffet joint and we went and picked my truck up that I had in the garage getting some work done, (it needed it and I haven't had time).

After I picked it up, I filled her up and grabbed a 12 pack of good cold beer, to have in addition to what I had in the fridge at the house, and headed home.

Start cracking open beer.

I played with the 2, almost 3 year old girl we have custody of (she cooked on her play stove outside lol it was awesome) and proceeded to feed the animals and the 6 day old calf that's mom rejected it.

After everything was fed, watered, and a rooster raped a duck,

Slam a few beers on that one.

I started a fire in my fire pit and split some wood to vent and get rid of any stress I've acquired throughout the day/week and called my mom to check on the rest of the family.

I'm currently sitting by said fire drinking more beer, rocking out to some good tunes, and waiting to see what tomorrow brings and reading over this place that's packed full of friends, family, and good hearted people.

It's not so much about what you do to relax, but doing what really relaxes you. ~ Some dude that was almosf famous and probably drunk when he said it.
