Assault rifle sales

NOW..we are left with the remaining 5%..out of these..we will give a physical exam, training courses and other various methods(to be determined later) of how to narrow this ramaining 5% down to only 3%.

So this leaves us with ,lets just say 4 teachers in a school that will be allowed to go to a government paid..government provided, government ran training course to be any schools S.C.D.

Need an evaluation to the mental stability before being able to purchase maybe?

I'm afraid that would eliminate almost all of us, depending on the day of the week and the depth of the evaluation. But the current test, where the guy at Walmart hands you the form and says answer all of them no except #2 and #18, may not be enough.

I agree with most opinions. People have to be held accountable for their actions. Having guns acceptable by someone with a social / mental disorder is the first problem. No one wants to accept that there is an epidemic of mental illness, poorly raised children and freeloaders that are overwhelming this country. Stricter gun laws wouldn't have prevented this terrible incident. This 20yr old couldn't legally purchase a firearm anyways and having a mental illness would have hindered the process if he were old enough. If he wouldn't have used an easily accessible firearm that he stole from his mother, he would have used bombs or something similar to achieve his twisted goal. Crazy people will do crazy things, gun laws will not prevent criminals from committing unlawful acts. It will just make it easier because there won't be a community to protect one another. All of the horrible gun shootings, except the shooting of the arizona congress woman, happened in places where lawful CCW permit owners could not carry their firearm. A gun free America is not an America I want to live in. Our guns and simple freedoms are the only things keeping us from tyranny, invasion or complete chaos. You call 911, I'll grab my gun. I know which one gives me a better chance 100% of the time.

Flame away. :D

A big problem with a ban and even in this thread is the misuse of the term "assault weapon". An assault weapon is defined as a firearm capable of select fire, be it multiple round burst or full automatic fire. A semiautomatic only weapon does not fall under this definition. A 30rd or high capacity magazine does not make your semiautomatic weapon an assault rifle (reference to a previouse post).

To the O.P. you nore anyone else were never able to purchase an assault rifle from Dicks, BassPro, etc.

True, but when the laws are written, they will include the semi-autos under "their" definition of an "Assault weapon". Such as any weapon with detachable mags, pistol grip, flash suppressor, collapsible or fold-able stock, etc.

Buds guns has no more Ar-15's for sale. either thay are sold out or they pulled them.

granfathered. Really the ban just said new ones couldn't be used and there was a criteria that had it to meet 2 specifications to qualify as an "assault weapon"

Do you think there will be another opportunity to buy before the new ban goes into effect. I'd like a mini 14 or 30. Don't have the cash right now.

Yes, not long though. I'll bet mid january the ban will be in effect.

So, me and a coworker went to Hyatt's Gun Shop on Wilkerson Blvd yesterday....I know some peolpe don't like them but they are probably the biggest independent gun shop in NC and SC or the east coast for that matter. place was PACKED, the whole Tactiticool wall (AR, AK, PTR etc) was pratically empty, 2/3's of the wall was empty hangers, the AR's were going out the door before they could be hung on the wall. Saw 4 leave while I was there for 20 minutes, a really nice one to a Charlotte Police Officer. I bet they are sold out today.

I'd say mid January to mid February, obama said He wanted a ban, I mean "plan" by then.... there gonna be hard to find in the meantime. Curious too see what the NRA is going to say.

I read that haytts set a record for sales (for them) best selling day since 1959 or something....1million in sales..

Wow.

I saw that too... I hate dealing with them (mainly their Brady fee), and crazy high in store prices, but if u buy online and pick up in store, you can get some deals...

On the NRA, come Friday, they WILL give into all this bullshit, knee jerk , "we've got to do something that accomplishes nothing" pressure...

yeah that's what I see coming too.

I ordered a lower receiver that's on back order, we will see if it comes in time...

Winston salem gun show is this weekend. I'm going to see the crowd it brings.

I think the problem with the kids today is that they sit at home shooting up people on these video games they talk back and do as they please. what they need is a swift kick in the ass they know that nothing will be done parents don't hold them accountable for anything. we need to start by raising kids to be respectful of other people and guns. I have two young kids in the house some may call it extreme but I don't allow toy guns play guns etc guns are not toys and if you see them as toys as a kid when do you realize they arnt anymore? The problem is not the guns the problem is the way this county has turned and has put all morals aside and does what feels good and what is the easy way out.

^^Absolutely!!

Went by firepower in Matthews. They were sold out of every AR style rifle and mag. The place looked damn near abandoned.

If they manage to get a gun ban passed through but can't manage to keep the country from falling off the "fiscal cliff", then we have a FAR deeper problem in this country than I had ever imagined.....
