My take on this:
If you buy something "as is" then that's what you should expect.
If you saw water in the oil, you should have walked away
waiting 2 years and expecting something to be done about it is kinda stretching things
No one could have known that the head was cracked. with the water/oil issue it would just be one of many things that should have been checked.
Calling his work was just not cool at all, esp when he didn't work there when it happened.
making a post like that can only have one ending. You can't expect help when you start out like that.
learn from this

AS IS - i was told it was good, then reassued it was good then called a few months later, he said tough.

I had issue FAR greater than this engine to deal with for a while. I kept hoping he wasnt lieing when he said not to worry.

scarface called studnuts work because studnuts told him to come to his work and fight him on 4WP property

I didnt specify which business now did I. Yall just assume its the said mentioned. Yalls a bunch of over dramatic babies. Whitetrash why are you even posting? Does this even involve you?

And to reiterate for the internet babies. I have the bill of sale, sold as is, he knew there was water in the oil when he looked at it - and that was the first I knew of it. I didnt hold a gun to his head to buy it. Maybe I was a little nieve about it, but the engine DID run fine for me leading me to believe there wasnt a darn thing wrong with it. Im over it and I am not coming to settlement. I offered to make it right 2 years ago.

especially since I sold him the engine complete, with headers/intake/dizzy assembled(directly pulled out from my old chassis), etc ready to bolt in. I knew the engine ran so I wasnt going to dissable it.

he said you know where I work... that does not mean he wants to fight. all that means is you know where to contact him at.

If the guy said "you know where I work come up here so I can kick your ass" that will be a whole another story. WHTTRASH...you are about as useless as a football bat

talk about immature. You cant handle it face to face so you have to involve my employment. You obviously dont read on nc4x4 much do you.

for the whitetrash record. this isnt calling anyone here to fight, im not in my teens anymore. This is to resolve it man to man, not man to internet like the trolls on here are doing.

Well idont want be a troll (what ever that is) but this should be handle out side of here sound like a personal issuse and starting a thread cussing someone out is not very smart.Catch more bees with honey not vinager .Telling someone your going to put them on the ground is as far i can see is saying you want to fight .But that is just it was 2 years ago and he knew there qas milk for oil bad buy chalk it up and learn from it. and i vote for modz to end this thread for messing with some ones job

All the cussing and badmouthing is about the most immature thing you can do. At 25 I'm one of the younger ones on here and even I can see that much. IMO if a thread is started off like this one was then the mods need to delete it asap. If someone has that much of a problem with another person it is more a private matter and should be handled through the PRIVATE message system aka PM. I am not against warning others of a bad seller/buyer but the thread should not be started until after all the shit talking bs has taken place outside of a public forum and should simply state the problem and who the buyer/seller was, that's it. Keep it simple and don't post drama all over the forum. This isn't Maury or Jerry!

wtf is a troll im deading to know
from wikipedia - An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum or group with the singular intention of baiting users into an argumentative response.[1] It often has a broader meaning referring to any shady trouble making Internet activity.

And I don't understand why threads get locked on here so often when they are the slightest bit controversial. This is OT. I could understand if it were a tech or classifieds thread but come on. Not everything in life turns out for the better.

thanks i really did not think wikipedia would have it

i agree about the locking threads but when it involes a job maybe it should lock are edited

I cannot believe that someone is getting all pissy about an engine that was bought 2 years ago. Why would you chew someone's ass after two years of having something you bought. You should have looked at it right then and there or shortly after you got it home. If you would have done that at his house you would not have bought it right? If you would have taken it apart at your house you could have called him and said something about it. After 2 years I think this would free him of anything that is wrong with the motor. I don't know studnuts or anyone else on here except Alpha4wheeldirve, but he is not in the wrong here. I wish I could get out and do some wheeling but my jeep remains stock, and I have too much school work to do. Get the motor rebuilt and get gasket kit, then put it in the rig you are working on and go wheeling.

(Man I miss wheeling)

The way I see it you bought a motor with water in it and you knew about it before you gave him the money.

Seems like your at fault too.

And by no means is it good to sell a motor with water in it either.

And to wait two years to bitch about it?? Makes no sense to me.

I agree

who is to say after 2 years, this guy didnt leave it out in the rain or something

after 2 years, call it a day man, cut your losses

I am by no means taking sides, but the threat was in the first post

and reguardless of what happened, you call the man's work place

GROW UP

I dont know what you were hoping to get out of this, but with the first post you ruined any chance of getting resolution, with your threat

WOW
2 years?
I mean How is he supposed to know WHATS been done to the engine in 2 years?

BTW for my $.02 calling a man's work over a deal that does not involve work is as bush league as it gets. Just think about the fact that you caused grief for 3 or 4 board members that this transaction had nothing to do with.

And I gotta say, thats pretty brazen. Screwing with a man's livelihood is a good may to take a long swim if one isnt careful....

QFMFT
2 years ago, you knew it had water in the oil, he offered to check it then, you declined. It's all yours. Very, very wrong to blow someone out on a freaking message board in this situation.

fact

Yager said offer facts. HERE IS A FACT. I've been doing business with Jon for a couple years and I've spent thousands of dollars with him. He has always bent over backwards to do right by me. Even coming to my house thats a good 40 minutes from his shop to offer help on my powerstroke...... FOR FREE.

Dear Private Seller:

I bought a grand cherokee from you 2 years ago. I barely drove it and the transmission is crap now. Its been 2 years and I bought it as is but I would like a refund. Does that sound retarded?

Ps: bought some stuff from studnuts and worked fine. Seemed like a good guy........now if I could just get him to return a pm about doing some work on my heep of :poop:

You know pirate is really the perfect place for name calling and threating. honestly you bought a motor knowing it had water in it with no warrenty and then waited 2 yrs to whine about it and toss threats around and expect ppl to take up your cause? Cut your losses and learn from this. Kinda like buying something from ebay but you got to look it over prior to forking over a mint for a used motor.

Ditto. Damn thats twice in a week or so:lol:

If this is the motor out of john's buggy, I heard it run several times. He had no trouble flogging his buggy at the playground. I saw no evidence of anything being wrong with it so I would have assumeed it to be fine as well.

If he knew it was f'ed up, he would have put fresh oil in it to cover it up.

Add the fact it was 2 years ago, along with your dickhead move of calling 4wp, who had NOTHING to do with it and, well, I have nothing to say to you that won't get deleated.

So :fuck-you:

In North Carolina, legally you may return a product to the seller within whatever time the business specifies, or whatever time is specified on the warranty...IF YOU HAVE A WARRANTY. Wheres yours?
You bought it from a private party, not a store. You have no right to return if he sold it "as-is". If you signed "as-is" than he could have :poop: in all 8 cylinders and told you the engine was made of gold, and you still cant make him legally buy it back from you. Your mistake, you waited too long.

Plus, johns a good guy, and as soon as i get the $ together i'm gonna buy high pinion dana 35 for my jeep, FROM STUDNUTS.
in my eyes you ruined your future sales, not Jon's. He isnt a bad seller, your a crappy consumer.
