gas

While I don't like them jacking the price up any more than the next guy, what is this "price gauging" BS?
Nobody is making these morons pay the higher prices, if you don't like the high price then don't buy it. Last time I looked, it's a free market economy here, you know supply and demand. If you knew you could raise the price 10-40% on whatever it is you sell, and people would still line up to buy it, until you ran out, what would you do?

if thats the case, lets just raise taxes to 70% then. people arent just going to decide not to pay their taxes.

i think it would be funny if some nut case started blowing up gas stations :lol:last year when gas shot up one day the manager at the shell on us70 in swannanoa screwd up and set the price at like 35 cent a gal. and didnt figure out why people were lined up till news 13 showed up.

3-5 miles from the house, it's still 3.69, just around the corner on Gumtree, $4.99, and 1 block further down, $4.09 WTF!! I know that guy couldn't have gotten a tank full of $5 gas, and had to charge more for it just before lunchtime. Are there any laws, local regulations etc concerning price gouging of fuel? All of his fuels, 87, 93 and Diesel same price $4.99 9/10.

If you don't pay your taxes, the IRS shows up and you either pay, or they get theirs one way or the other.

If you don't buy the $4.99 gas, is the big oil man gonna come and make you pay?

gas here in wilmington sams club raised 10 cents in just 30 min....filled my truck up for a day of wheeling tomorrow at 3.58, then came back with my other car that was on E and it was already up to 3.66, and it's gone up more since then....others are already at 4.17 :(

anybody heard how the gas prices are along I-95 from our state line to Richmond? Wife wants to take the kids to King's Dominion for a weekend of barfing on the rides.

I heard that in Troy gas had got up to close to $6/gal in some places and there were police riding around handing out tickets to gas station owners for price gouging. NC is supposedly still in a state of emergency due to hurricane Hannah and according to the Governor, gas stations are supposed to have prices at cost plus whatever profit margin they were at 2 months before the storm hit.

someone told me that somewhere in Greenville it was around $7 gallon but I've yet to see it...

at a station in Farmville at 11am there were 3 cops there directing traffic the lines were so bad...

Gas was $3.68

I had a funnay tonight. I normally don't have a mean streak...but it came out at the Exxon. We took my mom out to dinner, and her car needed gas, so I had to stop. The receipt printer at the pump was out of paper, so I had to go inside. Gal at the register said "I can't print receipts in here." Her attitude kinda pissed me off, so it was time to screw with her. Sorry you had a long day, but don't take it out on the customers.

I said I HAD to have a receipt. "Sorry, there is absolutely no way I can do one." I told her (hehehe, so I lied) that I had to have it to turn in to the boss for reimbursement or I'd be out the money. "Sorry."

So....I pulled out my credit card and held it out for her. "Well, if I can't get a receipt to get reimbursed...just take the charge off my card." :D The look on her face was worth it. :)

I finally got her to hand-write a receipt, which brought the funnay in itself...at first, she just wrote the dollar amount on a slip of paper and handed it to me. :shaking:

Maybe a the state will hand out some jail time and stop some of this crap. I'm just waiting for the low lifes to start stealing gas from cars like after Katrina. Moved the vehicles into the dogs area. they want my gas they will have to get by 3 sets of mean and nasty teeth. My dogs think strangers are snack food.

i noticed after Mr. Cooper mentioned the price gouging law, it seemed cap off some of the prices out there. course, the ones who stopped raising prices are the ones who ran out.

i still need to go fill back up on diesel from towing my boat to the lake today. the station next to my condo was 3.66 earlier today. cant wait to see what they jumped up to. the highest i have seen it all day though was 3.99. i have to pass those same stations to go and drop my boat off so i will check them out too. this is ridiculous. hope diesel didnt follow suit

the two crown stations on western blvd in raleigh are at 4.89 while the surrounding stations range from 3.65 to 4.09

Heehee, good for you.

FYI, if nybody else is in this situation, simply suggest to them that w/o a receipt, as far as you're concerned, the transaction never happened, and you will be reporting an erroneous carge to your credit company.
If they don't have a PAPEr record of it happening, MC/VISA will renig on their contract.

that crap has ethanol in that kills non flex fuel vehicals

LOL, 10% ethanol has been in gas a lot longer than you think, and NO, it doesn't effect anything but power and gas mileage, and VERY slight at that.

I ran "gasahol" 10% blend of ethanol and regular for many years in the midwest, the only problem I ever had was when I moved to NC and started running straight gas, I had to retune (adjust timing on ) my truck to be able to drive with out spark knock.

I'm seeing more and more stations carrying the 10% blend anymore.

If you ever buy gas in VA or SC most likely youll see the sticker on the pump say 10% ethanol.
Atleast the last time i was in Richmond and MB it did.
