Downgraded to a CAT 2, but a lot of rain still coming. The ground around my house is already 100% saturated. I have received 7" of rain since this past Sat night with thunderstorms.

Stopped at the Dunkin’ Donuts at the Petro (exit 157 off 85) this morning for my morning coffee. Saw 2 travel trailers set up in the parking lot. Looks like they stayed last night. Saw a Toyota pickup packed to the gills! He had a sport bike loaded in the bed with bags, luggage, boxes and plastic totes piled high and all around the bike. He was towing a small U-Haul trailer with boxes and bags strapped to the roof, and a ladder and a 2 wheeled hand truck strapped to the back of the trailer. The highways were eerily quiet for my morning commute.

That's a no-win situation for Trumpet.
If the recovery response is equally bad (unlikely), then he'll be blamed for yet another botched response.
If it's better (most likely), he'll be blamed as being racist and giving better treatment to his loyal base of Southerners.
 
I feel like everyone that's from eastern NC knows better than to wait on government help after a mean ass storm.

Anyway, if anybody is wondering how it's going down here so far....

The only way a quick response is bad for Trump is if you ignore facts. Like the fact that puerto rico screwed themselves with the lady in charge hoarding supplies, and wasting resources. Not sure how you can blame that on Trump.




We have been preparing for the worst case scenario here. grabbed some extra canned goods and some stove fuel. Have a full tank on the gas grill and 3 gallons of stove fuel for the camp stove. A pool full of gray water and a small generator to power a few things. If worst comes to worst, the wife and pups can just hang out with me at the fire dept.
 
That story is great. Makes my heart swell and my eyes water.

I'm in NO way a Trumpette....but Puerto Rico was a disaster BEFORE the hurricane. Both in tax (payers...:lol:) "base" and in leadership

Any outages yet? Haven't heard of any in New Bern, just curious...
 
It flickered here a few times, my internet went out, the rain started some, and the wind has picked up. Fairing pretty good so far. It's just getting started though.
