Here come the hurricanes!

Can call from a landline in theory and change
... but if you have a landline you can call to change your voice mail... why not just have people call your landline o_O

We have a Place in Hatteras between Teaches and the ferry. Luckily where we are is the highest ground on the island. All the locals put their vehicles in our parking lot. Knock on wood, we have never flooded. Worried Hatteras will become its own island again, separated from Frisco. The roads were already underwater earlier this afternoon. Unfortunately as the storm is making its way to land, it will stall and cause major erosion and flooding. Please stay safe.

My neighbor/cousin has a large pine across his house....so there's that.

I also saw where the Piggly Wiggly in New Bern on Simmons Street no longer has an attached roof.

I can tell you weren’t a comms guy. A true land line works as long as the lines aren’t torn down to the house as long as you have a regular handset and not a cordless handset. The voltage to run the phone travels over the lines from the phone companies central office or slik.
I guess they still have Battery back-up too. They have mini sub stations, with Battery packs. Good batteries may last 48 hours, depending on demand.

Well both of those suck! Heard anything about the Piggly Wiggly on corner of Tatum & Degrafenreid?

The one that's like a mile and a half from it? :D It's probably fine, but I have no idea. It's at least in a strip mall kinda building, so it's not by itself.

Walked down the road a few minutes ago. From my far driveway on down, something clipped the top wire and it's down and kinda coiled up in my driveway. My grandma/neighbor has a big cedar flopped over in her yard near our property lines and there's also a fairly large pine that's split about 10-12 feet up and leaned towards the road.

We're still holding on and I found a bottle of liquor that I forgot I had.

That's the one! Just curious since I'll have to read that meter if comms go down or replace it if the meter flies away, corrodes, etc. Not sure why, but that's the only Piggly Wiggly meter we read in New Bern.

Congrats on finding some more liquor...now bottoms up!!

I predict a big sale tomorrow at the piggly wiggly tomorrow......

and the lights are flickering here in rural wake co.

The rain has been pretty constant and the wind has been unrelenting. I've seen on Facebook that there are a royal shit load of people that live near the river that didn't think they'd flood...

There have been reports of 75+ requests for water rescues and people have been hitting their roof tops. Bridgeton, New Bern, Harlowe, and other places near large sources of water that are low lying.

I get staying, but I only stay because I'm not near water. Not to mention they flat out tell you that under a mandatory evacuation you don't have to leave, but don't expect them to come save your ass until it's safe.

I'm ready for this bitch to Flo on out of here already. We're right at 12 hours since it started!

I take that back...there are well over 150 high water rescue calls.

It flickered here a few times, my internet went out, the rain started some, and the wind has picked up. Fairing pretty good so far. It's just getting started though.
Damn seen y’all in new bern have 10’ of surge flooding hope all is safe!!! Praying for the coast!

Anyone look at the frying pan tower can this morning? Possibly camera went down and they are playing a previous day? Or someone’s on the tower and replaced the flag

No chance in hell that's today

**edit: according to the chat on the sky tower cam, they lost power so this is previous days

On Fb page he said they lost signal last night. He said that means a power connection (solar and batteries) blew loose or the tower was gone. He said the last part semi-joking but then said he believes it's just the power disconnected or shorted out.
