OK so those of us unaware what happened? Scrapped the last two plans and building your won chassis?

the gist is.. gutted XJ, kept a few things not much.. started on a YJ frame ( very rusty ),a good chassis(the red one) came up so I grabbed it but for me to make it the way I have this ending in my mind I would have to cut a lot off and redo it, so I got rid of that and then got this base chassis.. the idea is to still graft on YJ tube onto this tube chassis..

what did you do with the red one?

hate to see the xj go, but a buggy will be bad ass

Red one went to another member on here for his project..

Well spent about 1 hr in garage and made new motor mounts and got engine in where it should stay..

look from rear

threw on the hood and grill and dropped front axle under it for some inspiration

got a few mins in garage today so I moved rear axle and did some link testing.. I need to move the axle back further which will pull the links back also..

also moved lower rear arms to a new spot which I like a lot better.. need to do some more measuring to see if it will work but I do like the placement

Ken, your projects fascinate me. I've been following the bus build. Now, I guess I'll have to keep up with the progress on this one too, but all that work sure makes me happy that I finally got mine finished.

well had about 2 hrs this morning and Craig stopped by to help and borrow my trailer.. so of course work is needed :)

cut out floor ( yup all the work I did is now gone ) and set body on chassis and is pretty close to ride height.

well got front axle in place and tacked in lower arms and started on upper arms and noticed I need 2 more johnny joints..also next is tranny mount and then start bracing all the mounts so I can roll this around and move it over to the side some..

Have you thought about widening the wings on the tube chassis to match the tub? Then you wouldn't need to use that square tubing.

Or narrow the tub hood & grill to the chassis width. Little more work but set ya apart from the norm

I did.. but I actually like the square tube and the added strength it gives me when I slide over rocks etc..

that is not gonna happen.. I want it full width so the family can fit comfortable

Sweet so far. Man I need another Jeep....

Well now that I am caught up n other projects it is time to get back to the jeep..

I had to brace all the rear link mounts so I could spin the jeep around and made half a truss for rear upper links.. will continue more on that.
I also sent Andy @ Ironman4x4fab my front lower links so he could drill them out and tap them for johnny joints.. so once I get those back from him I will get front axle in and then start bracing and doing more on tube frame..

here are some pics of how it sits now
