Mall Crawling Racer...... #4410

Tough day. Lots of carnage. Hard crash/roll over, lost all coolant in the radiator. Broken driveshaft on next lap. Broken throttle - stuck at 2k+ rpms, but we got a checkered flag. Just short a couple laps.

Officially got 18th place, only 13 racers completed all 5 laps. Huge congrats to those guys!

I have to beef up the sway bars, if I sneeze in the right direction the car rolls over lol.

cliff notes: you still can't drive :flipoff2:

Cleaned up and dropped off the 4410 with Kyle at S.L. Customs in Mooresville (#racewife killing it with the wd40 And mud removal)

Pushing the car in Arkansas has created a small amount of clean up.... Early diagnosis includes a few weld stress cracks, broken rear driveshaft, busted tps sensor, melted throttle cable, smashed rear brake line, trashed brake pads (what happens when your throttle is stuck open), smashed sponsor panel, and a beat up roof.

S.L. Customs has about 90% of it already repaired, Carolina Driveline already has the driveshaft fixed, next up is a trip south to CT Raceworx for some weld work.

Addressing the body roll- It's just too loose for East Coast tight track racing (for me). After talking to King Shocks, they offered several ideas on what we can do to get it cornering better. Going back through our desert tuning session, they said it was incredibly loose, but that's why it ate the chop so well. Definitely needs adjustment for the East.

A follow up call to Currie and Genright gave me a little more insight from what I learned from King. I'll play with few things over the next couple of weeks and see how it changes it up.

"smashed sponsor panel"- I would suggest a solid background on the new one. Maybe it is just me- but it is hard to read/recognize the sponsor labels on the current background.

Your rig, your sponsors. Keep gettin it!

O….. M…… Goodness.

Driving home from the salon and my song came on…. Life in plastic, it’s fantastic.

As usual, Kyle at S.L. Customs under promised and over delivered. The 4410 throttle issues are worked out and the brakes stop like Bruce Jenner passing a panty hose sale. Being that I use guy-liner under my helmet and easily won the most metro-sexual award on NC4X4, I feel that I can make that joke and not be considered trans-phobic.

After I got the car back from Mooresville, I drove straight to Indian Trail to visit Alex @CT Raceworx. S.L. Customs helped me to identify the stress cracks and busted LCA mount, and in no time at all Alex had them welded up. Huge thanks for the quick turn around, it takes so long prepping these cars (and by prepping I mean….. Well actually I’m not sure. I usually just helicopter in for race day and my handlers take care of the rest).

A couple of parts showed up as well- beefed up driveshaft from Carolina Driveline, meatier sway bar from Currie, and a porterhouse sized pinion guard from Ruffstuff (meat references?). Bad news though, I can’t get the pinion guard to fit. Hopefully I’m too metro and it actually fits and I just can’t figure it out. But it looks like I need to take off a centimeter of steel around the inside of the ring. Either way, I'll bring it to U4 Badlands and see what the smarter people than me think.

Lastly, major shake up at REDLYNER Racing. After two races with consecutive roll overs, I've decided to make a major change.

I've switched my fire extinguisher from the passenger C-pillar to the driver C-pillar. I feel like an idiot for not doing this earlier, as it very well may be the key to keeping me upright. Time will tell....

See you in Badlands :).

Great news!!!!

It should be wet and nasty for race day (I'm about 3 hours out with Tornado warnings).

A fast qualifying lap got penalized for dropping off a wall too soon near the start finish. 20 second penalty.

No breakage for us, but the short track took out 5 other cars, we should have a crowded start this afternoon in a solid car.

Just a mall crawler with a pretty face…

The perfect hair style is what I usually chase…

But for one week a year…

We drive to hear the fans cheer…

The 4410 QUALIFIED, so it’s back to the Hammers we race!!!

Ultra4 Badlands is in the books, what a great event and even better volunteers. Huge shout out to the guys who put in the work so we can splash through woods and rocks.

It was wet…. Even with the blazing hot sun. I saw cars stall, lose belts, and hydrolock motors because of the water. Including us (we lost a belt). We started near the back (around 29th) due to a Qualifying Penalty, and worked our way around the track and carnage for a 17th place finish. I re-watched my in-cab footage and we lost nearly 25 minutes due to a thrown belt and eye blindness (mud and grit scratched my eyes- had to stop and flush them and change contacts in order to keep racing). I’ll go over the car in the next few days, but I’m hoping we escaped without major damage.

Congrats to Jason Shipman on the win!

The big news for our team came after the race, I received the update on Monday that we qualified for the 2017 King of the Hammers! So we’ll race Ultra4 Kentucky in 4 weeks, then start prepping and practicing for the desert. My dominance in the fashion world is not as translatable to offroad racing as I originally thought, so seat time in the racecar will be priority ONE this Fall and Winter.

Hammertown, get your tanning beds ready ;-).

I am a Mall Crawler, there for abide by our very strict code: One will never spend less time waxing their ride than actually racing it. So keeping in form- I spent 3 hours cleaning after 2 1/2 of driving......

An by "I", of course I mean I had my wife clean while I managed. I think at this point no one actually expects me to get my fingernails dirty.

What happens when I don't have perfect hair for a commercial filming?

Trick question, I always have perfect hair.

However, from time to time, an extra take is necessary to get the best lighting for my skin tone :D. Here is a behind the scenes of some of the shots that didn't make the final commercials.

Looking like a star studded crowd at this weekend's Ultra4 race! Lots of West Coast talent, probably because of the short course'esque layout of the track.

First time for me on this type of track, should be lots of airing out the 4410 (jumps on top jumps on top of jumps).

Loading up!

Early breakage during pre-running. Stripped the splines out of the rear anti-rock arm, incredibly lucky to find a guy out here with a spare. Just as we got it cut down and drilled out, they closed the course. Time to clean up and qualify.
