Military Vehicles Thread

I also saw something I've never seen yesterday getting on I20. I meant to post in here and ask. It looked like an armored backhoe. Was moving pretty damn fast too. Ok quick google found it...

Yes those were the replacement for the FLU-419. Way cooler than a FLU-419!

I would sell this truck for $9000 cash. As is. It's missing stuff, but it runs and drives (I have not taken it on the road). I would include an extra cab and doors (not to say they are much better, but they would be included if wanted). It is missing things like door handles and door parts (has glass). It has a 290hp cat 3116. Overall a decent truck and worth well over $10k if I part it out. I don't have a title, but could get one without issue IF I had someone wanting to buy it.

Stumbled across this on FB and thought about this thread.

1998 Stewart & Stephenson m 1078
$15,000
Is that high or about average?
Can those be tagged?

@Tacoma747 do you ever come across any trailer dollys like would be used to pull a pup trailer? I would like to use my m817 to move my van trailers around the farm.

@Tacoma747 you got another one on its way to you? That's all I could think when I saw this at a rest area on I95 today :D

To be fair, it's definitely not an unfounded assumption!

Never again will I pull the complete drivetrain with cab still on, but this truck was NICE so I won't be a rush to part it out, but have a buyer for the engine so it had to come out. It was rear-ended is the only reason it is being parted out.

Had the license and theft officer out to the land today so I could finally get my title (that I went to the DMV to put in my name in January got to love how slow the government works) released for the M817

Nice looking truck. Come up to my land and move about 500 loads of dirt about 500 feet haha.

We got those in my first unit (8th Engr Support Bn) late '82 and were quickly replaced with 900-series (Cummins/Allison goodness) shortly afterwards...

Mine is a 72 and from what I remember some of the m800 series trucks got retrofitted and turned into the m900 series. I wouldn't want to run up and down the road hauling with it but it does amazing offroad. The rear suspension articulates really well and keeps traction on some rough terrain.

Heading to Michigan to pick this combo up later in the week. Really wish I could afford to KEEP it, but have a couple guys interested in it so it will hopefully be leaving quickly. M916a2/m870

Finally painted my big trailer, still need to get some more paint to finish it, and paint the wheels, etc.

Where abouts in Michigan?

Well it looks like three of these will be coming home with me on the way back from Michigan. Hawk missile loaders. This is a generic pic off Google so I am sure mine won't be in this condition.
