Military Vehicles Thread

@Tacoma747 are there any surplus military boxes big enough for 2 atv's? Thinking something 8.5'w x 10'long that I could buy to put on the front of a gooseneck trailer to keep my bikes and gear out of the weather.

Specs and price?

You understand these are for semi trucks correct? (Edit: I see in your signature you have a Pete) M870a4, 48' long folding neck, with rear ramps. 20k empty weight, 80k payload. I have a couple companies I hope are interested, but I am trying for $35k each. These are $65k-70k new.

Nothing I can think of that would have a door big enough for an ATV. Dirtbike sure (such as S-280 shelter), but for ATV that would only leave you with an actual storage container.

I have a nice s-280 I used as a camper box, won't be able to use it to make the truck an 'RV' now but may still haul stuff on the trailer and sit the box on the trailer for camping.

Out of my price range but didn't hurt to ask lol

That's a pretty good price for a folding neck from what I've seen. It's a shame they're so dang heavy.

How much do these S-280's run? How tall are they?

I need to start looking for people needing to haul an 80k lb load somewhere off road.
I need to rent your dozer for a week...and I'll even let you store it for a few months too :p

No rentals (that had once crossed my mind but I reconsidered) but I'd be happy to bring it down for a paying job haha. I can make the dirt look just like the waves in the ocean.

Skid steer and mini excavator available as well haha. The trailer will handle all three but not without overweight permits!

They range, $500-2000 depending where and who you get one from. Mine has a RV style heat/a/c unit on it which is nice. They are about 7.5x12', and about 7ft tall. I am 6'6" and can't quite stand up inside. They are VERY well insulated.

Was that your load of trailers tuning around and you following then that I saw today?

That was the first load. Three more sometime next week probably.

I meant the neck folding out

Ahh. I tried to take a video but it wasn't good. It is really a two person operation (and I was by myself). You use the winch on the back of the truck to lower/raise the tongue and also to pull the trailer up onto the truck.

That's interesting. Kinda limits your clientele since it requires a specialized truck to run the neck. I had assumed it was hydraulic.

Is this designed for items too heavy for the ramps on the rear?

Trailers like this are designed mainly because it is pretty sketchy driving a dozer or heavy equipment up ramps, but also because the ramps are not designed to support the capacity that the trailer can haul.
