6" slab for my future shop.
6" is what I figured at 30 yards of concrete, sounds like somebody just wanted to make a good lick at your expense.

were pushing 150 for 3000 psi
That's probably the SLMT tax - Shitty Little Mountain Town tax.
No friend here either, but mine was $6500 for about 1400sqft at 4" thick, but that included boring and setting the posts for me, 2 loads of gravel for the driveway, and several thickened areas. That was at $3/sqft finished, they've since gone up to $3.50/sqft. If you back out the slab concrete and a load of gravel, and adjust for current pricing, thats around $5000-5500.1500 square feet of concrete for under 7K? You must have a friend. More like 12K.
Even then, I think 4" will suffice. My forklift weighs 11k pounds, and I've carried a 5000lb load with it from one corner of the shop to the other, so 16k gross, no issues. I initially was gonna go with 6", but even my 10k rated lift only required 4" concrete. I thickened two 3'x8' strips in the general area where the lift was gonna go and put in some extra rebar just because it seemed like a good idea and was cheap.6 is overkill unless you'll be driving forklifts on it regularly. .

Concrete is no damn good in tension. This all comes back to subgrade preparation.

I pay the tax cause I’m from here and proud of it. Can’t stand the people that are moving in here by the groves though. And I don’t fit in with the flat lander frame of mind. That's probably the SLMT tax - Shitty Little Mountain Town tax.

Loft was the second best idea I had. It works great.

Prepping for April raceFixed it for ya Ken
I could not find the email but I was quoted $35K for a 30 x 40 by Carolina Post and Frame. That is turn key by the way. They do all the permits and site work and concrete. It might be 5 years before I actually start it though. lol! Carolina Post Frame
I've sent them my information...but haven't heard anything back yet
That doesn't sound too bad.I heard back Friday. $40k for a 40 x 60. Concrete and insulation included.
