Random Metal Fab Fun.

The imagination and skill is already there. ;)

Artistic expression comes as natural to some as being able to swim. At the same time, it's a perishable asset. A person can push themselves for decades to keep persuing the dream, but that flame can and will burn out eventually. It helps greatly to stay surrounded by people who help bring it out, be it a spouse, friends or even an employer. I'm beyond blessed to know the people I do and to have landed where I did. Crazy friends are the best to keep around.

Quoth nobody in particular; It's your brain. Use the hell out of it. The worst that can happen is that you'll get smarter. :p
This is why I keep coming back here - lots of great people, many unique and amazing ideas, and quite a number of things that I earmark for the "wow, that's cool...I want to do that!"

^Those look terrific!

Update on a company art project for the library downtown. All the etching is complete. Everyone got to pick a design that signifies them, and bring it to life. The brackets came off the waterjet table today and welding began. We used a stair tread type plate with ridges to mimic the pages of a book. We're trying to decide on which textures and colors to use. Our powder coater has been experimenting with combinations to accent the natural appearance of the antique hardback books we aim to create. I'm really stoked about these! A huge team effort from the greatest team I've ever had the privilege of working with.

I feel a road trip brewing....I need to visit this shop and shake some hands and such.

Follow-up on the butterflies. Boss told me when I finished forming these things a few weeks ago that "those have some serious attitude". He came in on a Saturday and powder coated these himself. I got to tell him the same thing.

It's been a huge market out there for us sand blasting and powder coating old metal furniture. This is one of many 1950's swing chairs that we did recently that I thought turned out to be quite beautiful. Me personally, I'd come out of pocket a few hundred to own this. But of course, the original owner would have no part of that noise lol.

I love those old swings and chairs. I have an old swing that someone gave me. I sanded it down and patched it up before painting it. I've been trying to find two matching spring chairs but holy hell they are expensive. Even in bad shape they're still high

I'm sure of that! They come in all the time in really bad shape. I've had to do quite a few emergency welding repairs on them. We try not to be a furniture repair company on top of everything else, but if it's broke, they know we got it covered. There's four here now in various stages of disrepair all the way up to better-than-new luster.

I posted these in random pic post but they probably go better in here

It is a new type of stone-ish top. I'll ask the wife the name later.

That's because they are going for alot more then that these days.

I remember not too long ago I told my grandparents not to throw a pile of these things in the trash. They needed work, but ive always liked them. At the time they werent worth their price in scrap.

That swing sofa is nice. My ex BIL use to have a half dozen or more of them out in the yard. I think he planned to fix them up and sell them. I need to come visit Stuyck some Saturday when you are around some day.

Having some fun building some Certiflat fixtures with my new Certiflat table...

These are nice...the stronghand table are sweet too. The tops are the best part, the carts are not that special. I'd just like to be able to buy the top only. Your gonna love the indexable fixturing.

You can buy just the "fab block" alone, with legs/ levelers, or legs and casters. The stronghand cart does look a little cheesy.

Yes, it kicks ass already. Just putting together the fixture squares and stuff I purchased along with the table, went 3x faster than it previously would have.

Next are fireball tools- cast squares, and hopefully a small plasma table later this year, along with a 4x8 Certiflat fab block chassis table. (This one is 36x60, with a fab wing-36x12, which can extend the table or be a 90° fixture wall. )

Wanna build a rock bouncer?

got a killer drive train.
Protect me from myself...

Quick tip, for anyone that may order from Certiflat.

Create an account. Build your shopping cart and take it all the way to check out without paying... and leave that screen open overnight. (I've done this on two occasions, completely by accident the first time...)

The next business day you will get an email to finish your order, with a significant discount. I got over $350 off on this order, originally priced over 2k. I had another a week earlier closer to 4k- but I decided to wait on a few items, and they sent me an order for $650 off that one.

There order fulfillment is a little slow, took about 15 days to receive.

Side note...i ordered this fab block at a time they were offering blems, and I waited until the last night that they were for sale.... be damned if I can find a blem anywhere... they must have run out and sent me a regular unit for blem pricing!

The labels on those cans in the back left aren't all facing the same way...and the yellow bins aren't all level. Now my OCD is freaking out...

All seriousness though...that chit's hot!
