Front tube are in and 80-90% welded. Lunch time for me and little dude then a full on weld fest to get the jig out. Pile of tube left is much smaller than it was yesterday.
I'm willing to bet they counted on you cutting this back apart. To get it out which I ultimately had to do. Glad i only tacked it together.
Jig is out and the 8 million useless bolts and nuts are picked up. (For anyone else doing this the tight laser cut holes make the hardware one time use.)
I'll be honest I kind of want one of these now, thing has went together pretty smoothly and only had a couple of fitment issues that likely were self inflicted.
Starting to look like a chassis. Thankful for the jig but at the same time it's not prefect. Had to open up the jig at the b pillar to get the tube through it and it's about an 1/8" short at the top. Everything else still lines up with all of etched tube lands though and still square and level so no big deal.
I've done that same exact chassis so I know what you're dealing with. Pretty cool how it all goes together but the JIG was the most annoying part I agree!
Just some randoms from last night and this morning. Also here's a reminder to keep an extra pair of batteries for your welding helmet, saw the sun and stars last night when mine decided to die.
It'll happen. May be a year before it does. But it'll happen. Especially once he starts getting denied too many times on small tire or starts breaking axle parts
Some impromptu trailer repair on a Friday afternoon after I fubar'd my cousin's dump trailer hauling a load of brush (bc HOA) to the local mulch processor. I managed to jump on the end hard enough to get it to bend back and fenagle the tailgate shut, then go get ~4 ton of gravel from Martin Marietta otw to the shop.
Piece of Chinese junk clip broke while I was driving out from under the load and it dropped the tailgate without me realizing it. I pulled up about 30 ft and dragged the tailgate, breaking all kinds of welds and folding the side in to about 45*.

I'm with you but will for a select few. That said, when I say cousin he's ther closest thing to a brother to me (& I've got 2 half brothers). His dump trailer & skid steer stay at my place more than his & I bet I maintain them more than he does too, including the cutting edge, tars & head gasket on ther skid steer in the past couple years. I really wanna sell this one & upgrade it to a bigger one with barn door style tailgate & possibly a goose. But I've got other competing priorities for my funds unfortunately
Dana 60 arb install, definitely prefer their bulkhead fitting over the old style. Gear set up came out minty fresh.
8.8 build for @StretchASU 4.56 gears, Yukon Grizzly, and Artec 8.8 swap truss. Currently in primer, gonna get a coat of black after lunch and some "special" touches to really set it apart.
@adamk driveshaft needed to be shorted plus the tube was as straight as macaroni noodles. Cut the bent out and sluged in some new 2" DOM. Not the "correct" way but more than fine for an offroad rig. Plus tossed the cv flange on it for good np241c. Then have it the Adams driveshaft paint treatment, everything gets paint. Keeps it from looking like a rusty turd a little longer that way.
Got a roll cage to build for this Yota this week. Should come out fairly clean, should have some progress pics tomorrow. Don't mind the tall ass grass, we're conserving fuel over here
Plus "Big Bird" (the yellow Brute) is back to have a shit ton of parts thrown at it. Coilovers, arb front, chromos, Detroit in the rear, fuel cell, cage, and a few more things. Should be even cooler when it's done.
He helped me get some special touches this weekend from the boss lady.
My wife had this stupid thing in one of our flower beds for a little while. Well, the stand / rod / pole (yep, opening the door for y'all pre-verts) rusted and it sat in my garage for every bit of a year. Finally remembered to take it over to the shop this weekend and homie hooked it up w/ a few tacks and I hit it w/ some paint.
