I'm still trying to figure out the source material.
then the thickness.
Then the offset leg bothers me...but hes had heavy rigs on there and they aint failed yet. they are perfect.
I drove it for the first time since I got back home! I really want to get something like those DIY4X dashes and gauges and stuff in it, but it works...so I haven't bothered yet. Having functioning dash lights would be nice. I've been thinking about a Duramax swap in it one day too. Who knows?
I do know that with the current engine setup it would be sick with an automatic behind it! I may just do that one day instead.
After my last trip the The Ranch, I decided to pull the intercooler and give her a clean-out. EGTs were pretty high compared to @CasterTroy when we were pulling grades, and I also knew I had a crack in the stock, plastic cold-side pipe (oil on hood above air filter). I typically only see low-20s in boost (my understanding I should be seeing mid- to high-20s) so I was thinking this was also the culprit. Took the advise of @77GreenMachine and a page out of @Curtis_H's book and got some HVAC coil cleaner and thoroughly cleaned out the fins of the intercooler.
After 3 shipments, finally got the parts I ordered (new Mishy pipes and boots). Started putting them on last night after my youngest son's tball game...in the pitch dark, in my driveway with only a headlamp.
I'll get the pipes wiped down from my grungy handprints and put everything else back together this evening after work.
Got the seats in, need to figure out a way to drop the drivers seat 1.5-2” to have adequate clearance for my gourd and cage. Once I get the drivers seat lowered then the harness bar will go in.
Ahhh ok. Too bad you can run the roller bearing in the end of the crank, but I'd rather have a bronze bushing over a needle bearing pilot.
Edit: the little tiny needle pilot bearings, that is. When I swapped from a long crank 4.8 to a short crank 6.0, the new bearing was massive in comparison. It'll probably last a lot longer.
. Averaged 65mph and a little better than 13mpg. I was just glad it made it. That's the longest hwy ride I've ever taken in it, pretty much had the 258 at full throttle for an hour and a half...
Replaced a couple of shifter bushings that had turned to dust in the 4Runner and were starting to mess with the shift interlock and keep the key from turning off/coming out, and finally got around to installing some cone washers on one of the manual hubs that were missing since I bought it 3+ years ago. Its actually 4wd now
